This book was released on 2018-07-06 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The recognition of defects in materials properties still presents a number of problems for nondestructive testing in aerospace systems. This project attempts to utilize current capabilities in eddy current instrumentation, artificial intelligence, and robotics in order to provide insight into defining geometrical aspects of flaws in composite materials which are capable of being evaluated using eddy current inspection techniques. The unique capabilities of E-probes and horseshoe probes for inspecting probes for inspecting graphite fiber materials were evaluated and appear to hold great promise once the technology development matures. The initial results are described of modeling eddy current interactions with certain flaws in graphite fiber samples. Workman, G. L. and Bryson, C. C. Marshall Space Flight Center...

Book Synopsis Eddy Current Nondestructive Inspection of Graphite Epoxy Using Ferrite Cup Core Probes by : Susan N. Vernon
Download or read book Eddy Current Nondestructive Inspection of Graphite Epoxy Using Ferrite Cup Core Probes written by Susan N. Vernon and published by . This book was released on 1987 with total page 70 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report summarizes the results of a three year project to develop the eddy current technical base for the detection and measurement of broken fiber damage in graphite epoxy using eddy current. Since graphite epoxy components are frequently made of panels having only one accessible surface, a single sided technique using a probe coil was required. Parameters of ferrite pot core probes which affect the defect sensitivity of the probe were identified and evaluated in terms of the coil efficiency factor or coupling coefficient. As a result of this investigation, it is possible to optimize eddy current probes for the single sided inspection of graphite epoxy and other high resistivity materials.

Book Synopsis Nondestructive Testing of Graphite at the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory by : B. L. Blanks
Download or read book Nondestructive Testing of Graphite at the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory written by B. L. Blanks and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 19 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory has investigated and used radiography, ultrasonics, sonics, eddy current, radiation gaging, and beta-backscatter gaging for the inspection of graphite and its protective coatings. Some applications and limitations of these techniques are reviewed. The use of ultrasonics, sonics, eddy current, and radiation gaging to determine physical characteristics, aside from the normal flaw detection, shows promise in the inspection of graphite. Electron microscopy has proved to be a valuable tool for the evaluation of the findings of nondestructive testing.
