Download or read book Global Bioethanol written by Sergio Luiz Monteiro Salles-Filho and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2016-06-14 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Global Bioethanol: Evolution, Risks, and Uncertainties explores the conceptual and methodological approaches for the understanding of bioethanol technologies, policies and future perspectives. After a decade of huge investments made by big companies and governments all around the world, it is time to talk about the real conditions in which bioethanol will (or will not) evolve. Uncertainties and certainties are discussed and addressed to understand the futures of global bioethanol. The book analyses the evolution of bioethanol in the world’s energy mix under technological, economic and commercial perspectives. It gives particular emphasis on the innovative trajectories of second-generation ethanol and their potential in different countries and regions. Future scenarios are proposed in order to evaluate the possible outcomes of ethanol in a global perspective. For providing a thorough overview of the bioethanol sector from different points of view, this book is a very useful resource for all involved with biofuels in general and bioethanol in particular, including energy engineers, researchers, consultants, analysts and policy makers. Presents a thorough examination of the uncertainties surrounding bioethanol in the future global energy mix Provides a data-driven and updated picture on the technological, economic, and market trends and scenarios for bioethanol Offers a foresight analysis on the perspectives of bioethanol as a global commodity Includes a prospective about who is going to lead the new trajectories in the global arena
Book Synopsis Biofuels, Solar and Wind as Renewable Energy Systems by : D. Pimentel
Download or read book Biofuels, Solar and Wind as Renewable Energy Systems written by D. Pimentel and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-07-22 with total page 513 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The petroleum age began about 150 years ago. Easily available energy has s- ported major advances in agriculture, industry, transportation, and indeed many diverse activities valued by humans. Now world petroleum and natural gas s- plies have peaked and their supplies will slowly decline over the next 40–50 years until depleted. Although small amounts of petroleum and natural gas will remain underground, it will be energetically and economically impossible to extract. In the United States, coal supplies could be available for as long as 40–50 years, depending on how rapidly coal is utilized as a replacement for petroleum and natural gas. Having been comfortable with the security provided by fossil energy, especially petroleum and natural gas, we appear to be slow to recognize the energy crisis in the U. S. and world. Serious energy conservation and research on viable renewable - ergy technologies are needed. Several renewable energy technologies already exist, but sound research is needed to improve their effectiveness and economics. Most of the renewable energy technologies are in uenced by geographic location and face problems of intermittent energy supply and storage. Most renewable technologies require extensive land; a few researchers have even suggested that one-half of all land biomass could be harvested in order to supply the U. S. with 30% of its liquid fuel! Some optimistic investigations of renewable energy have failed to recognize that only 0. 1% of the solar energy is captured annually in the U. S.

Download or read book Ethanol Expansion in the United States written by Paul C. Westcott and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 2010 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A large expansion in ethanol production is underway in the United States. Cellulosic sources of feedstocks for ethanol production hold some promise for the future, but the primary feedstock in the United States currently is corn. Market adjustments to this increased demand extend well beyond the corn sector to supply and demand for othercrops, such as soybeans and cotton, as well as to the livestock industries. USDA¿s long-term projections, augmented by farmers¿ planting intentions for 2007, are used to illustrate anticipated changes in the agricultural sector. Graphs.
Book Synopsis The Economic Impact of the Demand for Ethanol by : Michael K. Evans
Download or read book The Economic Impact of the Demand for Ethanol written by Michael K. Evans and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 1997 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ethanol production is the third-largest user of corn, behind only feed & export uses. Ethanol production uses approximately 7% of the nation's corn crop which increases farm income & generates economic activity nationwide. This report is the first comprehensive analysis of the macroeconomic impacts of ethanol production. The conclusions in this report verify the cost-effectiveness of the federal ethanol program. In short, the partial excise tax exemption provided for ethanol blends is a non-inflationary incentive that creates jobs, stimulates tremendous economic activity, & reduces our trade imbalance.
