Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Skip-lot sampling plans are widely used in industries in order to reduce sampling costs and inspection efforts when products have a good quality history. This type of skip-lot sampling plan is economically advantageous and useful to minimize the cost of the inspection particularly with costly and destructive testing. Recently, a new type of skip-lot sampling plan called SkSP-R was developed. In this paper, an economic design of the SkSP-R plan is proposed for both destructive and non-destructive testing by considering various cost items in order to optimize the plan.

Book Synopsis Testing and Inspection Using Acceptance Sampling Plans by : Muhammad Aslam
Download or read book Testing and Inspection Using Acceptance Sampling Plans written by Muhammad Aslam and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-07-19 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces a number of new sampling plans, such as time truncated life tests, skip sampling plans, resubmitted plans, mixed sampling plans, sampling plans based on the process capability index and plans for big data, which can be used for testing and inspecting products, from the raw-materials stage to the final product, in every industry using statistical process control techniques. It also presents the statistical theory, methodology and applications of acceptance sampling from truncated life tests. Further, it discusses the latest reliability, quality and risk analysis methods based on acceptance sampling from truncated life, which engineering and statisticians require in order to make decisions, and which are also useful for researchers in the areas of quality control, lifetime analysis, censored data analysis, goodness-of-fit and statistical software applications. In its nine chapters, the book addresses a wide range of testing/inspection sampling schemes for discrete and continuous data collected in various production processes. It includes a chapter on sampling plans for big data and offers several illustrative examples of the procedures presented. Requiring a basic knowledge of probability distributions, inference and estimation, and lifetime and quality analysis, it is a valuable resource for graduate and senior undergraduate engineering students, and practicing engineers, more specifically it is useful for quality engineers, reliability engineers, consultants, black belts, master black belts, students and researchers interested in applying reliability and risk and quality methods.
Book Synopsis Inspection of Batches Through Skip-R Lot Sampling Plan by : Jaffer Hussain
Download or read book Inspection of Batches Through Skip-R Lot Sampling Plan written by Jaffer Hussain and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 8 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this paper, we present a new lot acceptance policy for batch inspection from a continuous process called the skip-lot sampling plan of type R (SkSP-R). The proposed plan is the extension of the SkSP-2 sampling plan and SkSP-V sampling plan by utilizing resampling. We formulate the optimization problem of minimizing the average sample number to determine the plan parameters of the proposed SkSP-R sampling plan. The constraints are to satisfy the producer's risk at the acceptable quality level and the consumer's risk at the limiting quality level. The tables are presented and the results are explained with an example. The proposed plan is more efficient than the single sampling plan, SkSP-2 sampling plan, and SkSP-V sampling plan in terms of the average sample number.

Book excerpt: Skip-lot sampling, originally introduced by Harold F. Dodge in 1955, provides for a method of reducing the amount of sampling inspection of lots of good quality, as evidenced by previous lot acceptances. This is accomplished by skipping the inspection of some of the submitted lots. These plans, designated as SkSP-2, are evaluated by such standard measures as the Operating Characteristic (OC) curve, the average sample number, and the average run length, a measure of the plan's ability to detect that a sudden shift in quality levels has occurred. A table is provided to help in designing a skip-lot plan by matching its OC curve to that of a given single sampling plan. An example is used to illustrate this.

This book was released on 2014 with total page 8 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this paper, a new sampling plan is introduced based on the run length of conforming items and Taguchi loss function. Run length of conforming items is used for decision making about the quality of a lot. The proposed sampling plan is based on the Markov modeling. A continuous Taguchi loss function is used to obtain loss of deviations between the value of quality characteristics and its target. An optimization model is developed for obtaining the optimal control tolerances and the corresponding critical acceptance and rejection thresholds based on the geometric distribution, which minimizes the loss function for both producers and consumers. For practical purpose, a numerical example is presented to illustrate how the proposed procedure can be applied to design acceptance sampling plans. In addition, the results of a comparison study denoted the merits of proposed model. At the end, a general model regarding the risk of consumer and producer is developed. A sensitivity analysis is carried out on the different values of the required parameters in order to validate the results of optimization model.
