Blagoi Gruev, born 1936, is a lecturer of general biogeography at the University of Plovdiv, the author of the first textbook on this subject in Bulgaria, who also provided an original biogeographical division of the country. Manfred Doberl, born 1933, has devoted 40 years of his life to teaching and entomology. He has also described numerous new Palaearctic and Oriental flea beetles, published in more than 30 papers.
