Book Synopsis A Heavenly Echo by : Dan L. Ballinger
Download or read book A Heavenly Echo written by Dan L. Ballinger and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2016-05-18 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book boldly asserts that New Testament prophetic visions portray a dynamic heaven-borne program of collective human revitalization in the new future. It is just the opposite of the doom and gloom predictions of many modern prognosticators. The author attempts to combine the authentic openness and self-revealing vulnerability of the AA community with the stupendous gospel claims of God's personal and global gift of eternal life with him. This combination of powerful, practical deliverance from addition, and the promise of God's unconditional grace-love, echoes in both of these contemporary historic phenomena--the ancient character of the Gospel's successful joining of God with us in our suffering world. From the first step to the last, the AA program and the Christian Gospel have produced bona fide evidence that anyone who seeks God and his right character will find it, and with it a new mind, a new God, and a new lasting life hope, that is, an eternal "spiritual awakening."

Book excerpt: Experience a deeper prayer life through this fresh take on ancient liturgy for believers today. Designed to help individuals, families, and congregations pray together across denominations, this book of common prayer will help you and your community join together each day with the same songs, scriptures, and prayers. Composed under an advisory team of liturgy experts, these three influential and inspiring authors have created Common Prayer--a tapestry of prayer that will help the church be one as God is one. This universal prayer book allows readers to greet each day together, remembering significant dates and Christian heroes in church history, as well as important historic dates in the struggle for freedom and justice. There are morning prayers for each day of the year, evening prayers for each of the seven days of the week, a midday prayer to be repeated throughout the year, and prayers for special occasions. In addition, there are morning prayers for Holy Week. Common Prayer also includes a unique songbook composed of music and classic lyrics to more than fifty songs from various traditions, including African spirituals, traditional hymns, Mennonite gathering songs, and Taize chants. Tools for prayer are scattered throughout to aid those who are unfamiliar with liturgy and to deepen the prayer life of those who are familiar with liturgical prayer. Ultimately, Common Prayer makes liturgy dance, taking the best of the old and bringing new life to it with a fresh fingerprint for the contemporary renewal of the church.

Book Synopsis Science and Technology in Korean History by : 박성래
Download or read book Science and Technology in Korean History written by 박성래 and published by Jain Publishing Company. This book was released on 2005 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally this book was published in Korea under the title Were There Sciences in Korean History? in Korean. The author selected two dozen topics from the history of science in Korea, to present a survey of Korean science to the general public. Now this is translated into English for international readers, with slight modifications to the original Korean version. This is author's way of interpreting Korea's proud scientific traditions, as well as his interpretations of why Korea had to be late in the introduction of advanced Western sciences in the nineteenth century and thereafter, hopefully for the better understanding of Korean history for the general readers, as much as professional historians.

By our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and our Mother of Salvation Holy Virgin Mary. Virgin Mary is God's Final Preacher. God is always trying to lead man away from self-destruction. He sends his preachers. He sends his teachers. But these are snuffed out. Their words are not listened to and their invitations are rejected. So, finally, he has sent me. I am his final teacher, his final prophet. I am his last opportunity to change the course of history. There is no one behind me, no other message, no other signs than the ones that I will give. When I tell the world that it must listen to me, I am not speaking from a selfish and arrogant spirit. I am speaking as one who sees the destruction, the hopelessness of mankind if my words are not heeded. The last of five books from 2011 until 2015.

Book Synopsis Reformation Spirituality by : Gene E. Veith
Download or read book Reformation Spirituality written by Gene E. Veith and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2013-01-16 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: George Herbert, in his poetic skill and the depth of the spiritual experiences he explores, may be the greatest of all religious poets. This is a study of the specific religious experiences and beliefs that Herbert writes about, both in his poetry and in his prose. As such, it also examines the spiritual landscape of seventeenth-century England, a period, for all of its controversies, still dominated by the understanding of God and the human condition articulated by Martin Luther and systematized by John Calvin. Reformation spirituality, which was different both from medieval Catholicism and late Protestantism, is itself little understood by literary historians, who have tended to look to medieval or Counter-Reformation ideas and practices or to a simplistic distinction between "Anglicans" and "Puritans" as ways of understanding the religion of the time. This study presents Reformation spirituality phenomenologically, from the inside. Just as Reformation spirituality reflects Herbert's poetry, Herbert's poetry illuminates Reformation spirituality, showing the experiential and mystical dimensions of an important religious tradition.

Book excerpt: In this riotous, globetrotting sequel to The Story of God, the universe's premier antihero, God, returns, as lonely, misguided, angry, and troubled as ever. Regretting many of the decisions he made in his debut book, and wrestling with his continued ambivalence to both his son(s) Jesus and his frenemy Satan, God decides to set things right with creation—again. But this time, he asks, why stick around the dusty Land of Israel or a decaying heaven when there's a much bigger world to explore—and countless others out there just waiting to love and praise him? And why work with the same tired old prophets, when there are much better candidates for the job? Journeying from the sands of Arabia to the hills of Utah to the stars of Southern California, God works to set his message—and record—straight. But with each new book he commissions, the same old questions, demons, and troubles remain. Forever haunted, he decides to do away with creation once and for all...or wait, maybe just apologize? Returning to where it all began, God makes one final judgment, with the fate of the universe—and himself—hanging in the balance.
