Book Synopsis Dynamic Response of Cylindrical Shells to Moving Pressure Load by : Herbert Reismann
Download or read book Dynamic Response of Cylindrical Shells to Moving Pressure Load written by Herbert Reismann and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 5 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A brief description of the results of an investigation concerned with an accuracy assessment of engineering theories of elastic plates and shells subjected to suddenly applied surface loads is given. The objective of the investigation was to generate exact solutions within the framework of different plate and shell theories to guide designers in their selection of the appropriate theory when analyzing 'light' construction under transient dynamical conditions. Download or read book An Investigation of the Nonlinear Dynamic Response of Cylindrical Shells Under Transient Pressure written by Charles Clinton Cromer and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A numerical algorithm was developed for computing the nonlinear dynamic response of a ring-stiffened, nearly circular cylindrical shell of finite length under transient, axisymmetric radial loads of arbitrary axial distribution. Nonlinear Donnell-type equations were solved using Fourier series expansions of the dependent variables in the circumferential coordinate, modified finite difference approximations of the axial derivatives, and Newmark's beta-method, combined with Gauss elimination, for the time integration. The response of a simply supported shell under an exponentially decaying, uniform pressure was computed for peak pressures and total impulses between the static buckling limit and the dynamic buckling limit. The significance of damping, the initial imperfections, and the nonlinear coupling were also investigated. (Author).

Book excerpt: This paper presents a study of the dynamic response of layered orthotropic cylindrical shells subjected to uniform pressure and/or axial loading, accounting for the influence of the change in the meridional slope (the so-called pressurization effect), the transverse shear deformation and the rotatory inertia.
Book Synopsis Dynamic Response of Plates and Cylindrical Shells to Moving Masses by : R. P. McNitt
Download or read book Dynamic Response of Plates and Cylindrical Shells to Moving Masses written by R. P. McNitt and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 91 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The dynamic responses of plates and cylindrical shells to a moving mass are presented. The mass may move harmonically along and/or perpendicularly to the plate or shell. Solutions are obtained by a finite integral transform on space followed by the application of a stable finite difference technique on time. It is shown that the accelerations (centrifugal and Corolis) induced by beam curvature may play an important role in the dynamic responses. (Author).

Download or read book Submerged Cylindrical Shells Subjected to Moving Loads written by Stanford University. Department of Applied Mechanics and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An axially symmetric pressure wave expanding with constant speed along an infinitely long cylindrical shell submerged in an inviscid, incompressible fluid of infinite extent is considered. Shell-fluid interaction problems involving loads moving with constant speed have been solved by transforming to a coordinate system moving with the wave speed at the wave front. Such solutions are referred to as steady-state because an observer traveling with the wave speed would presumably see a constant pattern both ahead and behind the wave front. In this paper, the complete initial value problem is formulated and the solution is presented as the sum of a complementary and a particular solution. The steady-state solution is also constructed.
