Book Synopsis Aging Study of 2024 Aluminum by Dynamic Modulus Techniques by : G. W. King
Download or read book Aging Study of 2024 Aluminum by Dynamic Modulus Techniques written by G. W. King and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dynamic modulus measurements are used to study precipitation rates in 2024 Al alloy. The results are discussed in terms of the effect of structural changes on the elastic modulus as well as the kinetics of precipitation at various stages of the age-hardening process. Activation energies were determined for aging in the temperature ranges from room (77 F) to 130 F, and 375 F to 425 F. A value of 20.7 kcal/gm mole was obtained for the lower temperature range, and 23 kcal/gm mole for the higher temperatures. The data indicate that modulus changes are primarily influenced by the structure of the second phase, however, some evidence of strain energy effects are indicated. (Author)
Book Synopsis Refractories for Aluminium by : Andrey Yurkov
Download or read book Refractories for Aluminium written by Andrey Yurkov and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-12-15 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book details the peculiarities of the requirements for refractories designed for aluminium metallurgical process: reduction, cast house, and anode production. The author describes requirements specific to the properties and structure of refractory materials that differentiate it from the refractories for ferrous metallurgy and other refractories. A comparison is drawn between the properties and structure of refractories and carbon cathode materials from different points of view: from the point of physical chemistry and chemistry interactions during the metallurgical process and from the point of design of reduction pots and furnaces with the aspect to the service life time of metallurgical aggregates.

Book Synopsis Lamb Waves for Structural Health Monitoring in Viscoelastic Composite Materials by : Mircea Calomfirescu
Download or read book Lamb Waves for Structural Health Monitoring in Viscoelastic Composite Materials written by Mircea Calomfirescu and published by Logos Verlag Berlin GmbH. This book was released on 2008 with total page 119 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Strucural Health Monitoring (SHM) is a novel philosophy for an autonomous, built-in nondestructive evalution of structural "health" on demand to reduce life-cycle costs, increase safety and reduce structural weight. This dissertation investigates ultrasonic guided waves, particulary Lamb waves, and their propagation properties as a method to perform Health Monitoring of viscoelastic composite structures.
Book Synopsis Scanning Probe Microscopy of Functional Materials by : Sergei V. Kalinin
Download or read book Scanning Probe Microscopy of Functional Materials written by Sergei V. Kalinin and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-12-13 with total page 563 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The goal of this book is to provide a general overview of the rapidly developing field of novel scanning probe microscopy (SPM) techniques for characterization of a wide range of functional materials, including complex oxides, biopolymers, and semiconductors. Many recent advances in condensed matter physics and materials science, including transport mechanisms in carbon nanostructures and the role of disorder on high temperature superconductivity, would have been impossible without SPM. The unique aspect of SPM is its potential for imaging functional properties of materials as opposed to structural characterization by electron microscopy. Examples include electrical transport and magnetic, optical, and electromechanical properties. By bringing together critical reviews by leading researchers on the application of SPM to to the nanoscale characterization of functional materials properties, this book provides insight into fundamental and technological advances and future trends in key areas of nanoscience and nanotechnology.
