Book Synopsis Dualities by : Michelle Voss Roberts
Download or read book Dualities written by Michelle Voss Roberts and published by Westminster John Knox Press. This book was released on 2010-01-01 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Philosophy and theology have each struggled with the problem of dualismùthe conviction that reality comprises material arid nonmaterial entities. Too often, this split places God, spirit, mind, and the masculine in opposition to evil, body, matter, and the feminine. These intellectual divisions support social structures that oppress rather than embrace women, the poor, people of color, and others. With this volume, Voss Roberts expertly shows how comparative theology uproots dualism and fosters new modes of community built on cooperation instead of oppression.

Book Review 1: “I am an “old school” feminist, born out of the consciousness-raising circles of the early 1970’s and shaped by the influence of Betty Friedan, Bella Abzug, and Gloria Steinhem. My doctoral dissertation, written in 1995, was “The Future of Feminism: Where Do We Go From Here”? This book is a collaboration of over 30 women’s stories and points of view that seeks to answer and expand upon that question. What does it mean to be a modern woman and how does one express her “outside the box” needs for expression? Jennifer Ludington has lovingly curated these stories and added her own “Duality Dare” section at the end of each chapter to encourage the reader to dig deep into her own experience and discover herself anew. Roll up your sleeves, reader. You’ve got work to do!” -- Dr. Judith Rich, speaker, trainer, coach, and best-selling author of the book, “Beyond The Box”. Book Review 2: “Jennifer Ludington, through her living example, asks women to step up, stand up, and speak up. Why? So we can lead with powerful voices and create the change we want to see in the world. Her anthology, which features women writing about jealously, beauty, unity, and mom-guilt, sheds light on important cultural aspects we experience during the rise of the Sacred Feminine.” -- Dr. Kathryn Guylay, transformational leader, podcaster, bestselling author, and founder of MakeEverythingFun.com Book Review 3: "The Duality of the Modern Woman is a must-read. Jen and the powerhouse women featured within the book provide a much-needed illustration of the duality in all women. It invites us all to explore our own duality – our masculine and feminine energy—and highlights real-life examples of how we as women can use both energies to harness anything we want to create in this world. As a type-A attorney, I personally spend a lot of time in the masculine." -- Christy Westerfeld, Esq. – Attorney & Legal Resource for Online Entrepreneurs Book Review 4: “Inspiring. Raw. and REAL. The stories shared by this collection of inspiring women gift you permission to embrace all parts that make you, you and help you realize that true freedom does exist and is possible. When we realize this, we know that we walk amongst a sisterhood of others who connect, relate, encourage and celebrate the journey.” -- Kristi Keever, Brand & Business Strategist and Creator of The Online Brand Academy

Book excerpt: Jex thought she was an average, post-college girl--until she crippled a drunk and nearly incinerated a gas station. When her elemental powers manifest, she's torn from her placid life and shoved into the war between good and evil. Forced to rely on new allies, including the sweetheart Captain of the Guards and her alphahole Valen, Jex must come to terms with her newfound ability before her enemies succeed in capturing her. --Praise for Duality-- ★"This. Was. Incredible. I'm obsessed and completely invested in these characters and this story."--Early Reader ★"I loved this book. I loved the witty banter, the sayings, the hidden clues, and the many little twists that were throughout the plotline."--Goodreads Reviewer (ARC) ★"I don't know what drugs, or witchcraft, or messing with the time continuum the author has done to this book, but if you don't mind losing a night of sleep and you're into contemporary fantasy romance, go read Duality."--TikTok Reviewer (ARC) ★"Five hottest words ever spoken: go sit in the chair."--TikTok Reader (ARC) ★"Honestly this book is in my top 5 favorite books of 2021! The sass of the characters had me smiling and laughing. And the spice 🥵🔥 This book got me out of a reading slump. It was definitely a book that I couldn't put down." --Need to Know More?-- I am made of extremes. Normalcy was key, before. I'd have a normal life, with a normal job, and a normal white-picket fence. That was before I crippled a drunk and torched a gas station. As it turns out, normalcy lives in the average gray, but I do not. Instead, I am made of extremes. Of fire and water. Of light over darkness. Of good over evil. Well, mostly good over evil, apparently. Now I have no choice but to embrace the not-normal before my world comes crashing down a second time--to piece myself back together with the family I found when I needed it, with the support of two men dragging me (kicking and screaming) to my full capability. But the bad guys are coming, and they're coming for me. He's coming for me. Ain't that some shit. NOTE: Duality is book one of four in the Duality Series, and ends in a cliffhanger. It is medium burn MF and slow burn RH. TW: The Duality Series is an 18+ fantasy romance why-choose/reverse harem series. If you like unique magic systems, sword fights and action sequences, sassy heroines, and bonfire-hot spice, then this book is for you. Book One contains explicit sex and violence, and cheating as a tangential part of the story (not among the main characters). This book is not suitable for all ages and palates. If that is not for you, please do not buy this book.

Book excerpt: **The explosive conclusion to the epic Riven Worlds series** Humanity was granted their time to prepare. Now that it has come to an end, all Miriam Solovy wants is one more day. The Rasu civil war engineered by Alex Solovy and Nika Kirumase has provided Concord the time it desperately needed. Every weapon, every technology, every tactic will be brought to bear in a bid to defend thousands of worlds and trillions of people from annihilation. The enemy that emerges from the civil war victorious is like nothing Concord has ever faced. A boundless legion of Rasu—now interlinked and of one collective mind due to their integration of kyoseil—prepares to sweep across Concord space in a devastating tidal wave. But there might be a way to stop them. It will mean two individuals must take upon themselves the burden of committing genocide, so the innocent beings they protect need never know how such an act comes with a price. “There has never been a timeline like this one before.” A war has been waged for endless aeons. Our greatest champions fight it again and again across millions of years, in a tireless endeavor to save not merely innumerable lives but existence itself. With Mesme’s secret revealed, the enormity of the stakes is clear to all, and humanity and its allies are united as they brace for the return of the Rasu. But the enemy has a secret, too—one that may ensure Concord’s destruction, as it has countless times before. * In Amaranthe, where exotic alien life, AIs, wormholes, indestructible starships and the promise of immortality rule the day, no feat seems out of reach for humanity. But when the worlds of Aurora Rhapsody and Asterion Noir collide and the Rasu horde descends upon them both, more will be asked of heroes past and future. More will be given and more taken, and when the dust settles the very fabric of Amaranthe will be altered forever. *** AMARANTHE UNIVERSE: --------------------------------------- ~ AURORA RHAPSODY ~ (should be read in order) AURORA RISING TRILOGY #1: STARSHINE (Aurora Rising Book One) #2: VERTIGO (Aurora Rising Book Two) #3: TRANSCENDENCE (Aurora Rising Book Three) AURORA RENEGADES TRILOGY #4: SIDESPACE (Aurora Renegades Book One) #5: DISSONANCE (Aurora Renegades Book Two) #6: ABYSM (Aurora Renegades Book Three) AURORA RESONANT TRILOGY #7: RELATIVITY (Aurora Resonant Book One) #8: RUBICON (Aurora Resonant Book Two) #9: REQUIEM (Aurora Resonant Book Three) #10: SHORT STORIES OF AURORA RHAPSODY (can be read at any time) ~ ASTERION NOIR TRILOGY ~ (a new entry point for the series - can be read before Aurora Rhapsody) #11: EXIN EX MACHINA (Asterion Noir Book 1) #12: OF A DARKER VOID (Asterion Noir Book 2) #13: THE STARS LIKE GODS (Asterion Noir Book 3) ~ RIVEN WORLDS ~ (should be read after Aurora Rhapsody and Asterion Noir) #14: CONTINUUM (Riven Worlds Book One) #15: INVERSION (Riven Worlds Book Two) #16: ECHO RIFT (Riven Worlds Book Three) #17: ALL OUR TOMORROWS (Riven Worlds Book Four) #18: CHAOTICA (Riven Worlds Book Five) #19: DUALITY (Riven Worlds Book Six) ~ COSMIC SHORES ~ (a new entry point for the series - each book can be read at any time and without reading any of the other books) #20: MEDUSA FALLING (A Cosmic Shores Novel) #21: THE THIEF (A Cosmic Shores Novel)

Download or read book Duality of Voice written by Emil Sutro and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 1899 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By the time this book will appear, nearly six years will have elapsed since I discovered the voice of the oesophagus, and almost five since I published a preliminary account of this discovery in a book entitled The Basic Law of Vocal Utterance. This discovery, though the most comprehensive and far-reaching of any that has ever been made, not only in regard to the voice, but in regard to the better comprehension of our nature and our entire human existence, has remained as unknown to the world as if it had never been made. Yet some day, when its importance is recognized, it will take rank in the annals of the history of the human race as second to no other discovery that has influenced and shaped human thought in the proper recognition of the origin and the nature of man, spiritual as well as physical, his abilities and his limits, and his relative position, influence, and destiny in the economy of the universe.

Book Synopsis Duality in Analytic Number Theory by : Peter D. T. A. Elliott
Download or read book Duality in Analytic Number Theory written by Peter D. T. A. Elliott and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1997-02-13 with total page 362 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this stimulating book, aimed at researchers both established and budding, Peter Elliott demonstrates a method and a motivating philosophy that combine to cohere a large part of analytic number theory, including the hitherto nebulous study of arithmetic functions. Besides its application, the book also illustrates a way of thinking mathematically: historical background is woven into the narrative, variant proofs illustrate obstructions, false steps and the development of insight, in a manner reminiscent of Euler. It is shown how to formulate theorems as well as how to construct their proofs. Elementary notions from functional analysis, Fourier analysis, functional equations and stability in mechanics are controlled by a geometric view and synthesized to provide an arithmetical analogue of classical harmonic analysis that is powerful enough to establish arithmetic propositions until now beyond reach. Connections with other branches of analysis are illustrated by over 250 exercises, structured in chains about individual topics.
Book Synopsis Work, Money and Duality by : Raven Bowen
Download or read book Work, Money and Duality written by Raven Bowen and published by Policy Press. This book was released on 2021-05-19 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Winner of the British Society of Criminology Annual Book Prize 2022. As the labour market continues to exploit workers by offering precarious, low-paid and temporary jobs, for some duality offers much-needed flexibility and staves off poverty. Based on extensive empirical work, this book illustrates contemporary accounts of individuals taking extraordinary risks to hold jobs in both sex industries and non-sex work employment. It also opens a dialogue about how sex industries are stratified in the UK in terms of race and culture against the backdrop of Brexit. Debunking stereotypes of sex workers and challenging our stigmatisation of them, this book makes an invaluable contribution to discourses about work, society and future policy.
Download or read book Dance of Duality written by Vinita Pande and published by Notion Press. This book was released on 2024-10-15 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Supernatural at times and ordinary otherwise, this fictional tale tells the unusual life story of a Kashmiri woman, Lalla. Her twin brother’s soul and hers choose divergent life paths to exemplify duality—positive and negative, evolutionary and destructive. Some extraordinary spiritual experiences are woven into the fabric of a pragmatic life, unbeknownst to Lalla's family and friends. Dr. Anoop Kumar, best-selling author and creator of healthrevolution.org, describes the book as, "This is a unique and wonderful story of a character integrating all the different aspects of their life, from spiritual to practical to planetary and more. I enjoyed how all of these elements were woven together, including current events, to create a story that was at once mystical and also down-to-earth. A fun and mind-opening read for anyone." Many amazing mystical phenomena are described, especially as the tale pivots from events we've already experienced, like COVID, into a future yet to come. The story is truly about the chrysalis of a soul's evolution and its blossoming into a new form—a Self’s expression through the human experience and a dance with duality to find non-duality. Those who master both win the game.
Download or read book Duality of the Mind written by Ron Sun and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 2001-09-01 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a condensation of a large body of work concerning human learning carried out over a period of more than five years by Dr. Sun and his collaborators. In a nutshell, this work is concerned with a broad framework for studying human cognition based on a new approach that is characterized by its focus on the dichotomy of, and the interaction between, explicit and implicit cognition and a computational model that implements this framework. In this work, a broad, generic computational model was developed that instantiates Dr. Sun's framework and enables the testing of his theoretical approach in a variety of ways. With this model, simulation results were matched with data of human cognition in a variety of different domains. Formal (mathematical and computational) analyses were also carried out to further explore the model and its numerous implementational details. Furthermore, this book addresses some of the most significant theoretical issues, such as symbol grounding, intentionality, social cognition, consciousness, and other theoretical issues in relation to the framework. The general framework and the model developed generate interesting insights into these theoretical issues.
