Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From New York Times bestselling author Pete Earley—the strange but true story of how a young man’s devastating brain injury gave him the unique ability to connect with the world’s most terrifying criminals. Fifteen-year-old Tony Ciaglia had everything a teenager could want until he suffered a horrific head injury at summer camp. When he emerged from a coma, his right side was paralyzed, he had to relearn how to walk and talk, and he needed countless pills to control his emotions. Abandoned and shunned by his friends, he began writing to serial killers on a whim and discovered that the same traumatic brain injury that made him an outcast to his peers now enabled him to connect emotionally with notorious murderers. Soon many of America’s most dangerous psychopaths were revealing to him heinous details about their crimes—even those they’d never been convicted of. Tony despaired as he found himself inescapably drawn into their violent worlds of murder, rape, and torture—until he found a way to use his gift. Asked by investigators from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to aid in solving a murder, Tony launched his own searches for forgotten victims with clues provided by the killers themselves. The Serial Killer Whisperer takes readers into the minds of murderers like never before, but it also tells the inspiring tale of a struggling American family and a tormented young man who found healing and closure in the most unlikely way—by connecting with monsters.

Book excerpt: The Whisper, by Ron Rhodes, fully describes the love that a man and woman can have for each other. The Whisper is written like a poem, no, a song. Like an excerpt from “The Song of Solomon.” Ron praises his wife like Solomon, “She was as beautiful as the full moon, as pure as sunlight!” In this love story that surrounds the Rhodes family, their church family, and friends, you will follow along a timeline of Terry’s passing. You will read about the challenges to their faith, their surges of hope, and near audible words from God to Ron, the sighting of a divine person, the sharing of the peace that settles, and the boldness that cries out of Terry as she draws closer to her inevitable promotion. Read this book! (Pastor Frank Mazzapica, Senior Pastor, New Covenant Church of Humble, Texas)
Book Synopsis We Dare Not Whisper by : Jan Netolicky
Download or read book We Dare Not Whisper written by Jan Netolicky and published by Brick Mantel Books. This book was released on 2015-12-01 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Luce Garrison narrates the unraveling of her stoic Midwestern family: a mother plagued by bipolar disorder, a father guilt-ridden by his inability to confront his wife’s descent into madness, and Luce’s own unassailable conviction that she can never be as loved as the brothers she has lost. As a child, Luce often lingered over albums of glossy photographs, longing to be just like her lovely, enigmatic mother. But images frozen for an instant could not capture the lightless depression and manic bouts of frenzied activity which demonized Bets Garrison. Luce does not know the depths of her mother’s undiagnosed mental illness. Her only certainty? She is an inadequate substitute for the older brother who was stillborn just three months after her parents’ marriage. After giving birth to Jonny, eleven years Luce’s junior, Bets develops an obsessive, disturbing devotion which trumps every other relationship in the Garrison home. Although Luce tries to minimize the gulf, she is excluded from the smothering attention her mother lavishes upon Jonny. Caught in a void, she can neither be loving sister nor cherished daughter. She can only be in the way. Set in rural Wisconsin, We Dare Not Whisper explores the toxic legacy of a self-destructive family. With hauntingly beautiful prose, Jan Netolicky illuminates the suffering of individuals with bipolar disorder and the unthinkable challenges facing those closest to them.

Download or read book Loud Whisper written by Clifton Snider and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2000-12-11 with total page 181 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Adam (a.k.a. Zed) Avery is the hub around which the spokes of Loud Whisper revolve. Sexy, impulsive, reckless, he is the dedicated leader of a Southern California rock band in the 1980s called The Spacs. Beneath his defiant veneer lies a sensitive, literate, generous individual. The product of an upper middle class family, Adam is never content for long with the numerous obsessions that occupy him-including drugs. The members of The Spacs include Danny Devil, Adams school friend and the leveling influence on the band; Davey Dynamite, the Hispanic keyboard player; Adrian Cocksure, the sexy bass player; and Brenda Cashew, the alcoholic lead singer until Adam replaces her in that position. Other key characters are Mark and Melanie, Adams lovers, and Henry Langford, the reporter from the national music magazine, Nitty-Gritty. The Spacs had begun to achieve national prominence when, at a concert at The Forum, drugged and lacking self-confidence, Adam falls from the stage, paralyzing himself from the neck down with, doctors say, no more than a ten per cent chance of his walking again. The novel opens with this concert and quickly moves into Marks story. Langford has come to interview him for a feature article on Adam and The Spacs. The following chapters tell Adams story through interviews with the other band members and Melanie, so that the point of view changes with each chapter. Then the focus switches to Adam in the hospital and his long struggle to recover and eventually return to the music business. The theme is recovery from drug addiction and a self-destructive life style and from the paralyzing accident caused in part by the addiction. Love is also a theme which, combined with determination and a spiritual awakening, allows Adam to pursue his recovery and return to the stage, so that the novel ends on an upbeat note, despite the harrowing experiences its central character has gone through.
