Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the papers and discussions from a Symposium on :'Hu man Behavior and Traffic Safety" held at the General Motors Research Labora tories on September 23-25, 1984. This Symposium was the twenty-ninth in an annual series sponsored by the Research Laboratories. Initiated in 1957, these symposia have as their objective the promotion of the interchange of knowledge among specialists from many allied disciplines in rapidly developing or chang ing areas of science or technology. Attendees characteristically represent the aca demic, government, and industrial institutions that are noted for their ongoing activities in the particular area of interest. of this Symposium was to focus on the role of human behavior The objective in traffic safety. In this regard, a clear distinction is drawn between, on the one hand, "human behavior," and on the other "human performance." Human per formance at the driving task, or what the driver can do, has been the subject of much research reported in the technical literature. Although clearly of some rel evance, questions of performance do not appear to be central to most traffic crashes. Of much more central importance is human behavior, or what the driver in fact does. This is much more difficult to determine, and is the subject of the Symposium.

Book Synopsis Transportation, Traffic Safety and Health by : Hans von Holst
Download or read book Transportation, Traffic Safety and Health written by Hans von Holst and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modern society is, to a great extent, characterised by a tremendous growth in transportation -- the freedom to travel is a central and fundamental human value. As mobility has increased so have health problems. The number of fatalities and serious injuries caused by road traffic is unacceptable, and, while a downward trend is visible in most countries, there still remains a lot to be done. This collection of contributions by scientists and administrators presents some of the latest findings in the area of mobility and its relation to medical treatment, rehabilitation, public health and prevention.

Book Synopsis III Wars Trilogy by : John E. Thompson
Download or read book III Wars Trilogy written by John E. Thompson and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2010-07 with total page 546 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It was the last image however, taking shape just before the entrance to his treasure room, that shook Third's very soul and filled him with more terror and dread he had ever felt before. An imposing human warrior stood barring Third's entrance into his destiny of power and fame. The man stood resolute in his battle ready stance, and Third felt as though he was seeing death incarnate. The warrior held a metallic rod in one gauntleted hand and a shield at the defensive ready in the other. A single stonework battle tower was emblazoned upon the circular shield. Somehow, Third knew that he would forever remember this warrior's determined face. Third tried to focus his mind to remove the vision, but it remained. He tried to slow his drifting approach toward the warrior, but he couldn't. Some force was compelling them to each other. With calculating eyes the warrior sensed his presence and raised his battle rod to strike. An aqua-blue hue enveloped the metal rod as it shimmered, transformed, and lengthened into a long sword. Flames burst to life over the entire surface of the gleaming blade as the terrifying warrior raised it high overhead. With his shield held in perfect defense he lunged forward and slashed the blazing sword downward into Third's mind.
Book Synopsis Motorsport and Fascism by : Paul Baxa
Download or read book Motorsport and Fascism written by Paul Baxa and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-04-28 with total page 325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the first English-language study of motorsport and Italian Fascism, arguing that a synergy existed between motor racing and Fascism that did not exist with other sports. Motorsport was able to bring together the two dominant, and often opposed, cultural roots of Fascism, the Futurism of F. T. Marinetti, and the Decadence associated with Gabriele D’Annunzio. The book traces this cultural convergence through a topical study of motorsport in the 1920s and 1930s placing it in the context of the history of sport under Mussolini’s regime. Chapters discuss the centrality of speed and death in Fascist culture, the attempt to transform Rome into a motorsport capital, the architectural and ideological function of the Monza and Tripoli and autodromes, and two chapters on the importance of the Mille Miglia, a genuine Fascist artefact that became one of the most legendary motor races of all time.

Book Synopsis Jesus the Truth Vs. Satan the Liar by : Honolulu Cops for Christ
Download or read book Jesus the Truth Vs. Satan the Liar written by Honolulu Cops for Christ and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2020-12-11 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the Gospels, Jesus called Satan the Father of Lies. From the beginning of Mankind until the present, Satan has been lying to mankind in order to destroy us and keep us from eternal life with God. Our first ancestors fell victim to a lie of Lucifer, and because of their fall, all humanity fell under the influence of the devil. Jesus came to earth to break Satan’s power over us. Jesus referred to Himself as the Light of the World and as the Truth. He wants to deliver humanity out of the spiritual darkness and deception in which Satan has mankind trapped. A spiritual battle rages between Jesus and Satan for the souls of men. The weapons of Satan are his numerous lies. The weapon of Jesus is the truth of His Word. He said that the truths He taught were a solid and unshakable foundation in a world of shifting and sinking sand. In Jesus the Truth vs. Satan the Liar, this cop for Christ exposes many of the dark lies of Satan that are spread within America’s higher education system. They are exposed by the light of biblical truth, giving students the knowledge they need to reject the lies and all who spread them. 84 84
