Since ancient Egypt and Greece, people have relied on the art of dreaming to diagnose illness and get answers to personal life challenges. Now, dreams are making a grand reappearance in the medical arena as recent scientific research and medical pathology reports validate the diagnostic abilities of precognitive dreams. Are we stepping back into the future as modern medical tests show dreams can be early warning signs of cancer and other diseases? Showcasing the important role of dreams and their power to detect and heal illness, Dr. Larry Burk and Kathleen O’Keefe-Kanavos share amazing research and true stories of physical and emotional healings triggered by dreams. The authors explore medical studies and ongoing research on the diagnostic power of precognitive dreams, including Dr. Burk’s own research on dreams that come true and can be medically validated. Book Synopsis Triple Takes on Curricular Worlds by : Mary Aswell Doll
Download or read book Triple Takes on Curricular Worlds written by Mary Aswell Doll and published by State University of New York Press. This book was released on 2012-02-01 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Triple Takes on Curricular Worlds is a groundbreaking exploration of curriculum studies that offers a new understanding of the "selves" educators bring to work. Three educators from three different disciplines write on issues not usually forefronted in curriculum studies: boundaries, disgrace, distance, fear, forgiveness, light, and mothers. Their gendered voices give new meaning to the idea of curriculum to include that which courses through their lives in the classroom, in the public sphere, and in their nighttime personas. Each writer demonstrates to what extent teaching must interact with living in the twenty-first century. Writing from the perspectives of medicine, elementary education, and literature, the authors examine what it is like to live and work in a multidisciplined, multilayered world. Their chapters, born out of their life experiences, critique the serious issues of our time—terrorism, technology, power, and privilege—hoping to stimulate readers to think about their own public and private selves.

Book Synopsis Dream Children by : Elizabeth B. Brownell
Download or read book Dream Children written by Elizabeth B. Brownell and published by . This book was released on 1901 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt:
Download or read book The Dream written by Muḥammad Malaṣ and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2016 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1980, Syrian filmmaker Mohammad Malas traveled to Lebanon to film a documentary of interviews with Palestinians of the refugee camps around Beirut about their dreams. The Dream: A Diary of the Film is Malas's haunting chronicle of his immersion in the life of the camps, including Shatila, Burj al-Barajneh, Nahr al-Bared, and Ein al-Helweh. It also describes the filmmaking process, from the research stage to the film's unofficial release, in Shatila Camp, before it reached a global audience. In vivid and poetic detail, Malas provides a snapshot of Palestinian refugees at a critical juncture of Lebanon's bloody civil war, and at the height of the PLO's power in Lebanon before the 1982 Israeli invasion and the PLO's subsequent expulsion. Malas probes his subjects' dreams and existential fears with an artist's acute sensitivity, revealing the extent to which the wounds and contingencies of Palestinian statelessness are woven into the tapestry of a fragmented Arab nationalism. Although he halted his work on the film in 1982, following the massacres of Sabra and Shatila, he completed it in 1987, turning 400 interviews into 23 dreams and 45 minutes of screen time. Both diary and film present these people somewhere between present and past tense, but they are preserved forever in the word, magnetic tape, and now in digital code. The Dream is essential reading for anyone interested in the history of the Palestinians in the modern Middle East, and for students and scholars of Arab filmmaking, politics, and literature.
