Nittinger's Evils of Vaccination Why do even physicians resort to quack nostrums, or to such most ridiculous hallucinations as that of Hunter's inhalations of vitiated air in consumption? No science has yet been degraded by its own vaga ries so deeply as the Medical. Every science develops itself in three periods the first is that of blind faith; the second, that of smart sophistication and the third, that of sober in vestigation. The religious period of science, for instance, in regard to the treatment of small-pox in later times, was vaccination; the Sophistic period, re vaccination, scar theory, and a vaccine table system. Let us now solve the last problem; for as long as we renounce experience, which creates knowledge, we ban ish real science, (liebig, ) and favor the ascendancy of every trumpet humbug. Excerpt: ... which will ravage in the above-mentioned diseaseforms of the mucous membranes in the interior of the organism, till the feeding of the poison by vaccination, ordered even by laws, sanctioned by usage, and held up by the faculty, is forbidden under severe penalty. Then only will Nature be able to recover all her own; and then will the external small-pox reappear as a redeeming means for the internal destruction. Doctor.--Bring your babe now for vaccination! Mother.--How you have frightened me, I tremble all over! Doctor.--Why ? what is the matter ? Mother.--Pardon me; but I feel a perfect horror creeping over me at the mere thought on vaccination, since my poor Charles has died in consequence of it. Doctor.--0 nonsense ! Charles did not die on vaccination; do not believe such a thing. " He got dysentery while teething. Mother.--I beg you to wait another year; Tom is now very delicate indeed. Doctor.--Only the better! and I have this very moment excellent, fresh vaccine-lymph. Mother.--In God's name be it done! But, doctor, the responsibility rests on your shoulders ! r Nine days after this conversation and following vaccination, Tom was a corpse, with two vaccineblisters on each arm. 16. Fourth Scene: --The boundaries and the gates of the land are poorly guarded; the first advance of the fever-troops is inactive. Nature, impotently urging on the miserable powers of the body, struggles against the beastly pox in the spheres of the mucous membranes. There is a great deal of mucus, but not sufficient to stifle and smother the enemies. The police-force (the worms) of the intestinal canal is increased. This measure is for some time successful; but the intruding poison soon overpowers the worms also, and the skirmishing in the streets...

There is NO evidence that anyone caught polio from another person in the family. There is NO evidence that any nurse or doctor caught polio from a patient." —Sheri Nakken, RN, MA Listed below are public health statistics (U.S. Public Health Reports) from the four states which adopted compulsory vaccination, and the figures from Los Angeles, California (similar results in other states available from books listed at the back of this booklet): TENNESSEE 1958: 119 cases of polio before compulsory shots 1959: 386 cases of polio after compulsory shots OHIO 1958: 17 cases of polio before compulsory shots 1959: 52 cases of polio after compulsory shots CONNECTICUT 1958: 45 cases of polio before compulsory shots 1959: 123 cases of polio after compulsory shots NORTH CAROLINA 1958: 78 cases of polio before compulsory shots 1959: 313 cases of polio after compulsory shots LOS ANGELES 1958: 89 cases of polio before shots 1959: 190 cases of polio after shots The decline of smallpox, as with many other infectious diseases, including diphtheria and scarlet fever, coincided with the sanitation reforms which were instituted in the late 1880s. Where obtainable, government health records from around the world showed that during the periods of the most intense and widespread vaccination, the incidence of and death rates from smallpox were highest. For instance, in Kansas City and Pittsburgh during the 1920s, lawsuits were initiated, and won, against doctors and medical societies for declaring smallpox epidemics when there were none, and for creating epidemics with their vaccination drives. Before 1903, smallpox was almost unknown in the Philippines, with occurrences in less than 3% of the population, and that in a mild form. The U.S. military went in and began vaccinating, and by 1905 the Philippines had its first major epidemic. Vaccination was made compulsory in 1910. From 1905 to 1923, the mortality rate ranged from 25-75%, depending on the count from the various islands. “The mortality rate was the highest in the cities where vaccination was most intense.” Dr. W.W. Keen reported 130,264 cases and 74,369 deaths from smallpox in 1921. Japan adopted compulsory vaccinations in 1872 when they had only a few cases of smallpox. By 1892 they had the largest smallpox epidemic in their history with 165,774 cases and 29,979 deaths. Australia banned the smallpox vaccine after some children were killed by it, and in the following 15 years in unvaccinated Australia there were only 3 cases of smallpox. The smallpox vaccine was discontinued in the United States after Dr. Henry Kempe reported to Congress in 1966 that fewer people were dying from the disease than from vaccination.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is the ethical basis of democracy? And what reasons do we have to go along with democratic decisions even when we disagree with them? And when do we have reason to say that we may justly ignore democratic decisions? These questions must be answered if we are to have answers to some of the most important questions facing our global community, which include whether there is a human right to democracy and whether we must attempt to spread democracy throughout the globe. This book provides a philosophical account of the moral foundations of democracy and of liberalism. It shows how democracy and basic liberal rights are grounded in the principle of public equality, which tells us that in the establishment of law and policy we must treat persons as equals in ways they can see are treating them as equals. The principle of public equality is shown to be the fundamental principle of social justice. This account enables us to understand the nature and roles of adversarial politics and public deliberation in political life. It gives an account of the grounds of the authority of democracy. It also shows when the authority of democracy runs out. The author shows how the violations of democratic and liberal rights are beyond the legitimate authority of democracy, how the creation of persistent minorities in a democratic society, and the failure to ensure a basic minimum for all persons weaken the legitimate authority of democracy.

Book excerpt: The shocking true story of the United States government’s quest to hide the reality of extraterrestrial contact, even at the cost of its citizens. In 1978, Paul Bennewitz, an electrical physicist living in Albuquerque, New Mexico, became convinced that the strange lights he saw hovering in the night sky were extraterrestrial. He reached out to newspapers, senators, and even the president before anyone responded. Air Force investigators listened to his story, as did Bill Moore, the author of the first book on the infamous Roswell UFO incident. Unbeknownst to Bennewitz, Moore was hired by a group of intelligence agents to keep tabs on Bennewitz while the Air Force ran a psychological profile and disinformation campaign on the unsuspecting physicist. In return, Air Force Intelligence would let Moore in on classified UFO material. What follows is a scandalous true tale of disinformation, corruption, and exploitation, all at the hands of the United States intelligence community.

Book excerpt: An argument as timely as it is timeless, Aldous Huxley's Words and Their Meanings argues the significance and power of words. A less well-known work originally published by The Ward Ritchie Press in 1940, Huxley's essay arrived at the end of the Great Depression and coincided with U.S. entry into WWII, a time when global relations were heavily impacted by the craft and manipulation of language. Words and Their Meanings was selected as one of the Western Books of 1940, which was a celebration and recognition of fine printing. Huxley wrote that "words are magical in the way they affect the minds of those who use them" while displaying his insight and proficiency with language. He blends accessible elements of linguistic theory, semiotics and philosophy with his erudite style. Alvin Lustig is recognized for introducing principles of modern art to graphic design, with contributions to book design, interior design, and typography. His abstract style and innovative approach to typeface design became a trademark of titles published by New Directions Publishing. RIT Press presents a privately printed, limited edition facsimile of this title. This fine edition has been produced in partnership with More Vang, Alexandria, Virginia and designed byAlvin Lustig. He is recognized for introducing principles of modern art to graphic design, with contributions to book design, interior design, and typography. ALDOUS HUXLEY was a novelist, poet, and philosopher who relocated from England to the U.S. in 1937. He lived in southern California where he initially worked as a Hollywood screenwriter, later achieving success with his short stories, poetry, essays, and novels, especially Brave New World (1932).
