Download or read book Time Bomb from Within written by Dr. Stuart Scheckner and published by Abbott Press. This book was released on 2012-10-25 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a gem. It hits hard at just how simple it is to be poisoned from the vapors from mercury and mercury amalgam exposures and yet just how difficult it is to achieve understanding from anyone in either the health care industry or society in general. Dr. Scheckner is able to take the reader on a journey of just how simple it is for mercury to slowly and silently destroy someones life. People are being hurt, not only from the damaging effects of mercury on ones health, but also from the battle that it takes to achieve acceptance and recognition that mercury poisoning is a disease. This is a compelling story that all too many people in our profession of dentistry and patients who have been treated with mercury amalgam have faced and, because of a societal lack of understanding, will continue to face, unless we start to wake up and stop using this insidious and pernicious agent. Time Bomb from Within: Mercury Poisoning in Dentistry is a simple but heart-wrenching read for every dental health care professional and anyone who has, or has ever had, a mercury amalgam filling. Dr. Nestor B Shapka, BSc, DDS, IAOMT; president of the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology

Download or read book Mercury Free written by James E. Hardy and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dr. James E. Hardy is one of the few dentists in the world who has never used a common "silver" (mercury) dental filling in his practice. He has written a book explaining why dental mercury should be banned. Consumers need to be more aware of dental mercury's dangers. Medical and environmental consequences of mercury exposure are covered. Practical advice is given on how to become mercury-free by using safer, stronger replacements for amalgam. Mercury-Free is written in an easy-to-digest vignette format. The book's markets are dental consumers, health-care workers, the environmentally conscious, and concerned parents. The book is fully supported by more than 350 scientific references, and includes letters from people who have gone from sickness to health by becoming mercury-free.

Download or read book It's All in Your Head written by Hal A. Huggins and published by Penguin. This book was released on 1993-07-01 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mercury is one of the world’s most poisonous substances, and yet dentists routinely use it in amalgams to fill our teeth. Forty years ago, Dr. Hal Huggins questioned this practice, and now legions of dentists, researchers, and citizens are adding their voices of concern. It’s All in Your Head looks at past research on mercury toxicity and dental amalgams as well as current scientific findings that can no longer be ignored. It describes the possible effects of mercury toxicity, including multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, Hodgkin’s disease, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and virtually all autoimmune disorders. Written in easy-to-understand language, It’s All in Your Head explodes the claim that mercury amalgams are safe. If you think your worries are all in your head, you may be right.

Book Synopsis Assessment of Mercury Exposure and Risks from Dental Amalgam by : G. Mark Richardson
Download or read book Assessment of Mercury Exposure and Risks from Dental Amalgam written by G. Mark Richardson and published by Medical Devices Bureau, Environmental Health Directorate, Health Canada. This book was released on 1995 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report has been prepared in response to concerns that exposure to mercury from dental amalgam may adversely impact on health. The report aims to quantify mercury exposure from amalgam fillings, as well as exposure from other non-occupational sources; to assess the hazard posed by this exposure, estimating the exposure level which should be tolerable for most of the Canadian population; and to quantify the proportion of the Canadian population that may exceed the tolerable level. Two exposure assessment methods were used, one based on equations published by Olsson and Bergman (1992) and the other a deterministic multimedia approach by Richardson et al (1995). The report also includes a review of mechanisms of mercury uptake, tissue distribution, metabolism, and excretion by humans, and of the toxicology of mercury via ingestion, dermal absorption, and vapor inhalation.
