O ponto de partida são os enfrentamentos havidos em sala de sala de aula sobre a discussão de Arte Popular Brasileira buscando revisitar esse tema e, questionar fronteiras artísticas, estéticas e culturais no exercício pedagógico do ensino superior de arte. Parte da narrativa são experiências realizada entre 1998 e 2000, na Faculdade de Artes Visuais da UFG. No entanto, não se reduz a elas. Elas servem de pontos deflagradores dos meus questionamentos anteriores ao afastamento para o doutorado, bem como para novas indagações que surgiram ao longo do processo. Os resultados alcançados apontam para transformações conceituais, as quais, acredito, virão a contribuir para o redimensionamento não só do ensino arte, mas da minha compreensão como professora de arte no contexto universidade. Compreendi, ao longo dessa trajetória, que minhas reivindicações por um campo "expandido" de arte e cultura implicam num comprometimento de ordem política com formas mais democráticas de acesso à educação, à arte e à cultura neste País.
