Download or read book Synopsis of Background Material for MIL-STD-210B, Climatic Extremes for Military Equipment written by Norman Sissenwine and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Design Climatology Branch of the Air Force Cambridge Research Laboratories had the scientific responsibility for leading a DoD Task Group effort to revise MIL-STD-210A 'Climatic Extremes for Military Equipment'. This document represents the fruition of the goals of the task group. It relates the background studies supporting the values in MIL-STD-210B, so that MIL-STD-210B users need to consult only this single document for an elaboration on the MIL- STD-210B extremes. In addition, the report contains information on the origin, necessity for and the events leading to a revision of MIL-STD-210A. Discussions of the major changes in the Standard's philosophy and its contents are also provided.

Book Synopsis Extreme Temperature, Pressure, and Density Between 30 and 80 Km by : Allen Cole
Download or read book Extreme Temperature, Pressure, and Density Between 30 and 80 Km written by Allen Cole and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The distributions of temperatures, pressures, and densities derived from rocket observations between 30 and 80 km are examined with special attention given to extremes. Estimates are provided of the medians and values that are exceeded 1 and 10 percent of the time at various latitudes when the monthly means are highest, and of the 99- and 90-percent extremes and medians when monthly means are lowest. The high and low extreme values of temperature, pressure, and density at these levels occur near the pole. Densities are highest in summer when the circulation pattern is dominated by an anticyclone centered over the pole. Lowest values occur in winter and are associated with the polar cyclone that is normally centered off the east coast of northern Greenland.

Download or read book Arctic and Subarctic Atmospheres, 0 to 90 Km written by Allen E. Cole and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sets of mean monthly reference atmospheres that describe seasonal changes in the vertical distributions of temperature, density, and pressure at altitudes up to 90 km are presented for latitudes 60 deg N and 75 deg N. Also provided are specialized atmospheric models that reflect longitudinal differences in the vertical structure of temperature and density at these latitudes. Estimates of the seasonal, day-to-day, diurnal, and spatial variations are given with special emphasis placed on density. (Author).

Book Synopsis Monthly Midlatitude Atmospheres, Surface to 90 Km by : Arthur J. Kantor
Download or read book Monthly Midlatitude Atmospheres, Surface to 90 Km written by Arthur J. Kantor and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sets of mean monthly Reference Atmospheres that reflect the seasonal changes in the vertical distributions of temperature, pressure, and density at altitudes up to 90 km are presented for latitudes 30 deg N and 45 deg N. Estimates of the magnitude of the diurnal, day-to-day, and spatial variability of temperature and density are included for altitudes above 20 km. Special attention is given to the distribution of atmospheric density since density is the atmospheric property of most concern to aerospace designers and engineers. This report is part of a comprehensive effort to develop sets of mean monthly atmospheric models, surface to 90 km, for 15 deg intervals of latitude from pole to equator. The research is being performed to help satisfy the many requests that have been received from Air Force engineers and designers for information on the time and space variability of atmospheric density and temperature at altitude up to 90 km.
