Book excerpt: El propósito de este estudio fue mejorar mi propia práctica como docente con el fin de ofrecer una educación inclusiva por medio de la diferenciación y la implementación del Diseño Universal de Aprendizaje (DUA) en las prácticas de aula. Un aula es un ambiente diverso, en el cual cada estudiante tiene gustos, antecedentes y necesidades particulares de aprendizaje. Este estudio se realizó con un grupo de 24 estudiantes de cuarto grado de un colegio bilingüe privado de la ciudad de Bogotá. En la clase de matemáticas, y con base en el DUA, se diseñaron actividades y evaluaciones que ofrecían múltiples formas de representar los conceptos y alternativas a las evaluaciones tradicionales con el fin de que los estudiantes demostraran su aprendizaje de varias maneras. El proyecto se llevó a cabo bajo la metodología de la Investigación-Acción. En el transcurso de esta investigación, por medio de encuestas, observaciones y entrevistas, descubrí que los estudiantes se beneficiaron de la variedad de formas de representar la información, utilizando videos, diapositivas, explicaciones orales, aprendizaje cooperativo. También, me di cuenta de que al ofrecer una diferentes actividades y evaluaciones; por ejemplo, talleres, un juego de búsqueda, uso de un dispositivo y la creación de sus propios proyectos y evaluaciones. El proceso y los resultados de esta investigación-acción en DUA mostraron que es posible tener una educación inclusiva en el aula, donde los estudiantes estén más motivados y sean más independientes en sus procesos de aprendizaje. A partir de este estudio, se puede sugerir que la implementación del DUA como enfoque de una institución educativa, puede contribuir a los procesos de educación inclusiva. Esto implica la formación de docentes, la obtención de recursos y el apoyo de los directivos y de la comunidad en general.
