Da ich es sehr schade finde, dass ich in meinem Studium bisher noch nicht viel über den Unterricht von behinderten Kinder in Erfahrung bringen konnte, sehe ich diese Arbeit als eine gute Möglichkeit einen Teil diesen großen Spektrums im Selbststudium aufarbeiten zu können. Der persönliche Bezug zu diesem Thema ist gegeben, da einer meiner Brüder geistig behindert ist (Autismus). Mein Bruder war bis vor einem Jahr noch in einer Behindertenschule in Waidmannsdorf. Um meine persönliche Haltung zu der Thematik oft näher erläutern zu können, wird mein Bruder - Benjamin des Öfteren in dieser Arbeit "vorkommen" - als ein "Beispiel lebendiger Praxis". Da ich mehr Informationen zu der persönlichen Einstellung von Sonderschullehrern in Erfahrung bringen wollte, habe ich den (ehemaligen) Lehrer (namens Michael N.) meines behinderten Bruders per Telefon kontaktiert. Ich weiß, dass dies ein sehr engagierter Sonderschullehrer ist, und sich auch für die Bedürfnisse meines Bruders stets eingesetzt hat. Aus diesem Grunde werden in dieser Arbeit auch Ausschnitte aus diesem Telefonat vorkommen. Weiteres interessiert mich diese Thematik aber sehr, da ich mir selbst sehr gut vorstellen kann, nach Beendigung meines Studiums mit behinderten Menschen zu arbeiten. Meinen Themenschwerpunkt möchte ich dabei auf den Unterricht mit behinderten Kindern im Allgemeinen legen. Zu diesen Kindern zähle ich auch Kinder mit Lernbehinderungen, auf welche ich ebenfalls eingehen werde. In weiterer Folge werde ich aber auch den gemeinsamen Unterricht von behinderten und nichtbehinderten Kindern in den Blick nehmen (Integration und Integrationsklassen). Im Telefonat mit Michael N. wurden mir einige Problematiken der Integrationsklassen - bzw. der Problematiken von Integrationslehrer bewusst. Daher möchte ich auch darauf einen weiteren Schwerpunkt legen, und diese Probleme der Integration bzw. der Problematiken für Integrationslehrer mit einem eigenen Kapitel versehen. Da gerade die Thematik der Integration eine häufig gestellte Diskussion aufwirft, möchte ich in diesem Kontext auch die Vor- und Nachteile von Integrationsklassen nennen.

Dies gilt im Besonderen für Integrationsklassen, in denen Kinder mit sonderpädagogischem Förderbedarf in Regelklassen gemeinsam mit nichtbehinderten Schülerinnen und Schülern unterrichtet werden. Der theoretische Teil befasst sich mit den Rahmenbedingungen der Gehörlosenpädagogik. Dabei wird zunächst auf die historischen Dimensionen der Erziehung von Gehörgeschädigten, angefangen von deren ursprünglicher Ausschließung aus jeglichem Unterricht bis hin zur Segregation in eigenen Schulformen bzw. Institutionen bis hin zu dem modernen Diskurs über Integration und Inklusion im Regelschulwesen eingegangen. Im Zusammenhang mit der gemeinsamen und inklusiven Beschulung von Kindern mit und ohne Behinderungen, wie sie auch seit 1994 den Richtlinien der Vereinten Nationen entspricht, werden in dieser Arbeit vor allem Fragen, die sich aus einer differenzierten Betrachtungsweise von Schüler/innen ergeben, ausführlicher behandelt. Inklusiver Unterricht, Differenzierung und Individualisierung gehen auch in Österreich einher mit kooperativem Lernen und der Koordination des Unterrichts durch ein sich ergänzendes Team von Lehrer/innen, dem sogenannten Teamteaching, das meist in Zweierteams erfolgt. Methoden des offenen Unterrichts und alternativ zum Ziffernnotensystem bestehende Formen der Leistungsbeurteilung unter Einbeziehung der Lernenden sind integrer Bestandteil des integrativen und differenzierenden Modells, das hier mit seinen wesentlichsten Merkmalen beschrieben wird. Schließlich werden besondere Aspekte der Gehörlosenpädagogik unter Berück-sichtigung oralen, lautsprachlich orientierten und bilingualen Unterrichts erörtert. Der praktische Teil in Abschnitt 7 soll an Hand des Faches Biologie und Umweltkunde demonstrieren, welche Möglichkeiten es zur Aufbereitung von Unterrichtsmaterialien im Rahmen eines offenen Stationentrainings mit Wahlmöglichkeiten gibt. Um diese Arbeit so praxisbezogen wie möglich zu gestalten, wurde eine Integrationsklasse „geschaffen“, die sich aus 24 Schüler/innen, davon 2 Kinder mit sonderpädagogischem Förderbedarf und zwei gehörlose Kinder, zusammensetzt.
