Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent technological developments have broadened considerably the role of magnetic resonance imaging in the evaluation of liver pathology. Today, MR imaging is not looked upon merely as a problem-solving technique but is widely considered the principal imaging modality for both the detection and accurate diagnosis of focal and diffuse liver disease. Advances in hardware and sequence design and the advent of novel contrast agents with liver-specific properties have contributed towards making MRI of the liver a routine clinical application. Compared with previous publications on the application of MRI to study the liver, this book stands out in at least three major respects: - It presents in a clear and concise manner the current approaches to routine MRI of the liver, taking account of the hardware and software currently available from the major manufacturers and proposing imaging protocols for each. - A vast number of illustrations describe the pathologic and radiological correlations of the principal focal and diffuse liver diseases. - It presents a practical rationale for the use of contrast agents with liver-specific properties. This book will prove invaluable to radiologists wishing to expand or consolidate their routine approach to MR imaging of the liver.

Most radiologists use the "gamut approach" without calling it that, seeking all possible causes of a particular finding or pattern and eliminating those that don't fit the clinical setting. The gamuts supplied here are lists of all causes of roentgen findings and patterns. Over 250 are new to this edition, including 128 that refer to magnetic resonance imaging. Book excerpt: The daily analysis of whole-body MRI datasets uncovers many incidental findings, which are discussed by an interdisciplinary advisory board of physicians. This book provides a systematic overview of these incidental findings with the aid of approximately 240 high-quality images. The radiologists involved in the project have written chapters on each organ system, presenting a structured compilation of the most common findings, their morphologic appearances on whole-body MRI, and guidance on their clinical management. Chapters on technical and ethical issues are also included. It is hoped that this book will assist other diagnosticians in deciding how to handle the most common incidental findings encountered when performing whole-body MRI.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 123 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Magnetic resonance imaging has already become a most valuable imaging modality in the diagnostic work-up of musculoskeletal neoplasms. While high accuracy of MRI for staging purposes has been proven, we will focus in this monograph on the characterization of primary bone and soft tissue tumors by MRI. The major purpose of this monograph is to provide an atlas of magnetic resonance features of primary bone and soft tissue tumors for radiologists, orthopedic surgeons and physiotherapists. The results presented are based on investigations of 94 primary bone and soft tissue tumors and mimicking conditions by magnetic resonance imaging. Although the scale of the material allows for statistical handling, the number of patients per subgroup is too small to come to definite conclusions. We will therefore limit ourselves to the description of and comments on a great number of cases to illustrate the diagnostic potential of this new imaging modality. We would like to thank the anonymous cooperators: referring clinicians, pathologists, nurses, technicians and secretaries whose help enabled us to present this monograph. We would also like to express our gratitude to the firms Siemens AG and Schering AG for technical support.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This open access book offers an essential overview of brain, head and neck, and spine imaging. Over the last few years, there have been considerable advances in this area, driven by both clinical and technological developments. Written by leading international experts and teachers, the chapters are disease-oriented and cover all relevant imaging modalities, with a focus on magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography. The book also includes a synopsis of pediatric imaging. IDKD books are rewritten (not merely updated) every four years, which means they offer a comprehensive review of the state-of-the-art in imaging. The book is clearly structured and features learning objectives, abstracts, subheadings, tables and take-home points, supported by design elements to help readers navigate the text. It will particularly appeal to general radiologists, radiology residents, and interventional radiologists who want to update their diagnostic expertise, as well as clinicians from other specialties who are interested in imaging for their patient care.
