Anschließend werden die fünf Prinzipien der Sozialraumorientierung näher veranschaulicht. Um im weiteren Verlauf die Sozialraumorientierung mit der Lebensphase Jugend verknüpfen zu können, wird auch die Lebensphase Jugend genauer dargestellt. Hierbei geht der Autor auf die Jugendphase im Allgemeinen ein und stellt die Problematik des Erwachsenwerdens dar, die auftritt, wenn der pädagogische Auftrag von Schule oder Eltern nicht erfüllt wird. Arbeitet man im Berufsfeld der Sozialen Arbeit, begegnet man vielen verschiedenen Arbeitsansätzen und Methoden, um erfolgreich zu arbeiten. Die Möglichkeiten sind so individuell wie der Mensch selbst. Vor allem in der Jugendhilfe kommt es darauf an, den Fall sehr genau zu betrachten und nicht nur "einen Menschen mit Problemen" zu sehen. In der menschlichen Biografie wird der Lebensabschnitt Jugend immer signifikanter. In dieser Phase entwickelt sich die Persönlichkeit, ein soziales Umfeld wird gestaltet und Bildung wird erarbeitet. Doch was geschieht, wenn dieser Prozess nicht optimal verläuft? Wenn der pädagogische Auftrag der Schule oder der Eltern nicht erfüllt wird, spielt die Sozialraumorientierung eine große Rolle.
