Die von Rousseau entworfene Erziehung soll sich nach der Natur des Menschen richten, anstatt sich an bestehenden sozialen Konventionen und Normen zu orientieren. Denn Rousseau sieht die Gesellschaft als die Wurzel allen Übels, die den Menschen verdirbt. Diese Arbeit untersucht, inwiefern Rousseaus Konzept der ersten Erziehung adäquat zur Erhaltung der natürlichen Güte trotz Vergesellschaftung ist. Um den Erziehungsentwurf bewerten und einordnen zu können, muss geprüft werden, ob dessen Umsetzung zum Erreichen der aufgestellten Ziele führt. Um dies zu erleichtern, teile ich Rousseaus erste Erziehung in drei Themenbereiche auf: Grundlagen, Lebenssituation und negative Erziehung. Diese unterteile ich wiederum in je zwei Unterkategorien, welche ich einzeln darstellen werde. Nachdem der deskriptive Anteil jedes Themenbereichs so erarbeitet wurde, schließe ich jeweils einen Abschnitt zur kritischen Analyse an. Aus den Ergebnissen dieser Untersuchung werde ich schließlich im Fazit meine Position bezüglich meiner Fragestellung erklären.

Der erste Abschnitt stellt diese Entstehung skizzenhaft dar, während im zweiten Abschnitt deren konkretere Entwicklungen zur Zeit der Aufklärung erläutert werden. Es folgt eine kurze Betrachtung der Biografie Rousseaus, um seine Gedanken besser einordnen zu können. Gegenstand der darauffolgenden Analyse wird eine Konkretisierung des Verständnisses der natürlichen Erziehung nach Rousseau sein. Diese wird größtenteils im Kontext des Werkes Émile stattfinden, weshalb das Hauptwerk zuvor noch grob in Form und Inhalt gesondert beleuchtet wird. Auf diesem Vorverständnis aufbauend wird dann die natürliche Erziehung in vier Teilaspekten genauer betrachtet. Zuerst der Begriff des Naturzustandes, auf welchen dann eine Betrachtung des konkreteren Naturverständnisses Rousseaus folgt.
