Nicht außer acht lassen werde ich warum in einer Gesellschaft wie z.B. in Deutschland Normen, Werte und Urteile wichtig sind im Hinblick auf die Sozialarbeit. Auf Forderungen und Wege, die schon Albert Schweitzer für gut befunden hatte werde ich auch später näher darauf eingehen. Dazu gehören: -Was meint Albert Schweitzer mit der Ehrfurcht vor dem Leben? -Was meint Albert Schweitzer mit den Forderungen und Wege in Bezug auf die Sozialarbeit? -Was bedeutet die Humanität für die Sozialarbeit? -Warum sind die Funktion und Notwendigkeit ethischer Normen so wichtig für die Sozialarbeit? -Was ist mit Normen, Werte und Urteile gemeint?

Die Kultur, als Gesamtheit der Gewohnheiten eines Kollektivs mit ihren Werten und Normen, beeinflusst die Sichtweise und das Verhalten jedes Individuums. Einwanderer, als oftmals Fremde der deutschen Sprache und Kultur, benötigen professionelle und qualifikationsbezogene Unterstützung, die durch SozialarbeiterInnen geleistet wird. Da kein Mensch frei von Stereotypen ist, bedarf es auch der Sozialen Arbeit eine Kompetenz zu entwickeln, welche Vorurteile bestmöglich minimiert. Demzufolge wird danach gefragt, welche Facetten kulturbezogener Professionalität vor diesem Hintergrund bedeutend erscheint.

Book excerpt: A central pillar of contemporary communication research is the analysis of filmed interactions between people. The techniques employed in such analysis first took on a recognizably modern form in the 1970s, but their roots go back to the earliest days of motion picture technology in the late nineteenth century. This book presents original essays accompanied by written responses which together create a dialogue exploring early efforts at audio-visual sequence analysis and their common goal to capture the "whole" of the communicative situation. The first three chapters of this volume look at the film-based research of Gestalt psychologists in Berlin as well as psychologists in the orbit of Karl and Charlotte Bühler in Vienna in the first decades of the twentieth century. Most of these figures – along with many other Central European scholars of this era – were driven into exile in the United States after the rise of National Socialism in the 1930s. This scientific migration led to the cross-pollination of communication studies in America, an outcome visible in the leading project in interaction research of the mid-twentieth century, the Natural History of an Interview. The following two chapters examine this project in its historical context. The volume closes with a critical edition of a treasure from the archives: the transcript of a speech delivered by Ray Birdwhistell, a key participant in the Natural History of an Interview project and founder of kinesics.

A History of Twentieth-Century Germany provides a survey of German history during a century of extremes. Ulrich Herbert sees German history in the 20th century as determined by two contradictory perspectives. On one hand, there are the world wars and great catastrophes that divide the country's history into two parts-before and after 1945. Germany is the birthplace of radical ideologies of the left and right and the only country in which each ideology became the foundation of government. This pattern left its stamp on both the first and second halves of the century. On the other hand, the rise of modern industrial society led to decades of conflict over the social and political order regardless of which political system was in force. Considering these contradictory developments, Herbert tackles the questions of both the collapse in the first half of the century and the development from a post-fascist, ruined society to one of the most stable liberal democracies in the world in the latter half. Herbert's analysis brings together wars and terror, utopia and politics, capitalism and the welfare state, socialism and liberal democratic society, gender and generations, culture and lifestyles, European integration and globalization. The resulting book sets a standard by which historians of the period will be measured in the future.
