Book Synopsis Antike und Christentum by : Hans Dieter Betz
Download or read book Antike und Christentum written by Hans Dieter Betz and published by Mohr Siebeck. This book was released on 1998 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What are religious studies? What is theology? And what is their relationship to each other? In the light of such theoretical and methodological questions this historical inquiry asks what characterizes the study of Christianity within comparative religion—as distinguished from that of Christian theology? In the three main sections of the book representative texts from the history of comparative religion—including Schleiermacher and some other theological forerunners in the 19th century—are analyzed from a methodological and a material point of view. On this basis an answer is sought to the following questions: What has been the place of the study of Christianity within this discipline? On which methodological principles has it been based? And what kind of picture of Christianity has it presented?

Book Synopsis The Anti-Christ by : Friedrich Nietzsche
Download or read book The Anti-Christ written by Friedrich Nietzsche and published by Livraria Press. This book was released on 2024-05-09 with total page 90 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A new translation into American English from the original manuscript of Nietzsche's 1889 Der Antichrist. This edition is bilingual- the original text is included in the back as reference material behind the English translation. This is volume 9 in The Complete Works of Friedrich Nietzsche from Livraria Press. This chronological, systematic set of Nietzsche's works is the first ever bilingual "Hauptwerke" or complete major works of Nietzsche published in English & the original German. The Anti-Christ is the apotheosis of his arguments against Christianity, as well as his personal Megalomania. As the title suggests, Nietzsche sees himself as the Anti-Christ, the replacement of Christ and Socrates. He truly believed that he was going to replace Jesus in the Western world. Nietzsche is oceanic in his attempt to solve philosophy itself, as Hegel and many Continental philosophers did, but here takes it to an entirely different place. As the self-described Miltonic inversion of Job, a neo-Prometheus, the self-described Anti-Christ, he believed it was his duty to help the West undo thousands of years of history and return to a pre-socratic greek warrior society. This is realized through a restoration of amoral teleology with the Will Zu Macht, the Will to Power, to a return to a Pagan Greco-Roman culture.
This book was released on 2017-11-01 with total page 484 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Ein Beitrag zur Diskussion um den religionsgeschichtlichen und den kirchengeschichtlichen Begriff der Gnosis, Herbert Schmid argues that there are no hints for a more primitive and independent form of Gnosticism which developed on the fringes of ancient Judaism. Not only the Valentinian school, but also Hans-Martin Schenkes Sethianism and other early manifestations of Gnosis are probably best understood as early attempts to phrase Christian theology. In this context, the term Gnosticism is a useful category to describe ancient religious history.
