Download or read book Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Beams Subjected to Fire written by Bruce R. Ellingwood and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Methods for analytically predicting the behavior of simply supported reinforced concrete beams subjected to fire are presented. This is generally a two-step process involving a thermal analysis followed by a stress analysis. This study emphasizes the latter, wherein the determination of moment-curvature-time relationships for the beam cross section incorporates the temperature-dependent strength degradation in the steel and concrete as well as thermal and creep strains. The sensitivity of the predictions to various phases of analytical modeling is investigated to establish the parameters most important for the prediction of beam behavior and to indicate where additional data should be gathered. A comparison of predicted behavior with that observed in fire tests shows excellent agreement when realistic reinforcement temperature histories are used.

Download or read book Structural Dynamics written by Mario Paz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 836 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The use of COSMOS for the analysis and solution of structural dynamics problems is introduced in this new edition. The COSMOS program was selected from among the various professional programs available because it has the capability of solving complex problems in structures, as well as in other engin eering fields such as Heat Transfer, Fluid Flow, and Electromagnetic Phenom ena. COSMOS includes routines for Structural Analysis, Static, or Dynamics with linear or nonlinear behavior (material nonlinearity or large displacements), and can be used most efficiently in the microcomputer. The larger version of COSMOS has the capacity for the analysis of structures modeled up to 64,000 nodes. This fourth edition uses an introductory version that has a capability limited to 50 nodes or 50 elements. This version is included in the supplement, STRUCTURAL DYNAMICS USING COSMOS 1. The sets of educational programs in Structural Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering that accompanied the third edition have now been extended and updated. These sets include programs to determine the response in the time or frequency domain using the FFf (Fast Fourier Transform) of structures modeled as a single oscillator. Also included is a program to determine the response of an inelastic system with elastoplastic behavior and a program for the development of seismic response spectral charts. A set of seven computer programs is included for modeling structures as two-dimensional and three dimensional frames and trusses.
Book Synopsis Computational Structural Engineering by : Yong Yuan
Download or read book Computational Structural Engineering written by Yong Yuan and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-06-05 with total page 1244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Following the great progress made in computing technology, both in computer and programming technology, computation has become one of the most powerful tools for researchers and practicing engineers. It has led to tremendous achievements in computer-based structural engineering and there is evidence that current devel- ments will even accelerate in the near future. To acknowledge this trend, Tongji University, Vienna University of Technology, and Chinese Academy of Engine- ing, co-organized the International Symposium on Computational Structural En- neering 2009 in Shanghai (CSE’09). CSE’09 aimed at providing a forum for presentation and discussion of sta- of-the-art development in scientific computing applied to engineering sciences. Emphasis was given to basic methodologies, scientific development and engine- ing applications. Therefore, it became a central academic activity of the Inter- tional Association for Computational Mechanics (IACM), the European Com- nity on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences (ECCOMAS), The Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanic, the China Civil Engineering So- ety, and the Architectural Society of China. A total of 10 invited papers, and around 140 contributed papers were p- sented in the proceedings of the symposium. Contributors of papers came from 20 countries around the world and covered a wide spectrum related to the compu- tional structural engineering.
