Book Synopsis Real Time Simulation Studies of Advanced Drone and RPV Flight Control Strategies, Phase 3 by :
Download or read book Real Time Simulation Studies of Advanced Drone and RPV Flight Control Strategies, Phase 3 written by and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In support of research in the area of hardware-in-the-loop simulation, essential for development of flight algorithms for advanced high-speed unmanned aerial vehicles, Defence Research Establishment Suffield has established a long-term technology thrust to develop facilities suitable as flight qualification tools. The core of these facilities are the Simulation Facility (SIMFAC) and the Motion Facility (MOFAC). This document details the work conducted in support of efforts to increase the capability of the flight qualification systems. The tasks conducted included upgrading of SIMFAC hardware and software, developing advanced navigation algorithms, autopilot integration and debugging, SIMFAC operator training, a SIMFAC rewrite to eliminate inefficiencies in the code, and SIMFAC host computer upgrade and replacement. The appendices include configuration files and results of simulation speed tests.
Book Synopsis SAINT Simulation of a Remotely Piloted Vehicle/Drone Control Facility: Model Development and Analysis by : David B. Wortman
Download or read book SAINT Simulation of a Remotely Piloted Vehicle/Drone Control Facility: Model Development and Analysis written by David B. Wortman and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A model of a real-time simulation of a Remotely piloted Vehicle/Drone Control Facility (RPV/DCF) has been constructed using SAINT, a totally digital man-machine modeling and simulation technique. The real-time simulation consists of a mock-up of a DCF, where actual operators control the flight of simulated RPVs through the use of cathode ray tube (CRT) displays of RPB flight paths and parameters. The SAINT model consists of two interacting components. The state variable component of the model duplicated the simulation of RPV flight of the real-time simulation. The task-oriented component represents the control and decision tasks performed by the DCF operators. The interactions between the components include models of the presentation of mission status information to the operators and the processing of commands sent to the RPVs by the operators. Through input values, the generalized SAINT model is made specific to one group of operators performing one mission of the real-time simulation. This mission is simulated using SAINT. The simulation results are evaluated by comparing them with the mission performance output obtained from the real-time simulation.

Book Synopsis Program Documentation for the RPV-AUTO Simulation Program by :
Download or read book Program Documentation for the RPV-AUTO Simulation Program written by and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 105 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The RPV-AUTO Simulation Program is a real-time, interactive, graphics simulation of a hypothetical drone control facility. Its function is to provide a means for analyzing the effects of numerous variables on the operator performance of a five-man team whose task is to control 35 Remotely Piloted Vehicles through the enroute, terminal, and return phases of a simulated strike mission. The enroute and return phases are performed by four operators seated at IBM 2250 Display Units. The terminal phase is simulated by a single operator who controls a remotely located terrain table using a joy stick and TV receiver. Control of the terrain table is maintained by the program through an IBM 1827 Data Control Unit. The RPV-AUTO Simulation Program contains all of the features available in the original RPV Simulation Program previously developed by IBM personnel under this same contract. In addition, the RPV-AUTO Program contains an automatic flight plan 'auto-Patch') capability and a position report (PR) smoothing capability to aid the enroute operators in performing their task.
