Book excerpt: This study intended to identify the influence of work stressors on nurses' caring behaviors and job satisfaction from a quantitative approach. This study also attempted to determine the relationship between the respondents' demographic profile and the following factors: work stressors, caring behaviors, and job satisfaction. The study was descriptive and correlational. A total of 75 staff nurses completed the Nurse Stress Index (NSI), Caring Assessment Instrument (Care Q), and Index of Work Satisfaction (IWS) questionaires. Statistical calculations were obtained using SPSS 16 software. Data were analyzed using Pearson Product Moment of Correlation and Chi Square Test of Independence. A moderate level of stress was experienced by the respondents. No significant correlations were found between demographic data and work stressors, caring behaviors, job satisfaction. A significant weak negative relationship was found between managing the workload and caring behaviors (r = -0.2447, p = 0.0343). Confidence and competence in role positively but did not significantly affect job satisfaction (r = 0.1384, p = 0.2363).
