It has been the author's principal aim in completing this german-english part of his Lexicon, to supply the deficiencies complained of in the works of his predecessors. It has been the study of the best part of his life to furnish the student with a work embodying all the valuable results of German Iexicography. In every branch of Art and Science the very best authorities have been consulted and indefatigable pains taken to render the work in every respect a reliable guide, and as comprehensive and perfect, as the nature of the undertaking would admit of.
