Book excerpt: This story is about women and for women. Can broken hearts be mended? Alexandra is a dreamer, the youngest child of a large, reserved family. She longs to escape her small-town life and begins a secret life when she is nearly sixteen, singing at a small pub in the next town over. Her parents find out and give her a choice: stop singing or leave home. She leaves and soon finds herself involved with a much older man. When she discovers she is pregnant, however, her entire life changes once more. She sets out on a journey to a big city, determined to make her own choices and find her dreams, regardless of the challenges she faces. Between the life chosen for us and that we chose, we learn lessons that we forget with time. We end up sinking, derail from the right path, and then miss opportunities as we dread embarking on new waves, thanks to the depth of the wounds caused by those closest to us. But when we feel most disappointed in ourselves, we must be strong and remember we deserve happiness, justice, and success. Book excerpt: You may have read many books from psychologists or psychics about dreams, why they accrue and meaning of dreams; this is not one of those books. A God dream in this context refers to the purpose and abilities that God has designed for your life to fulfill his ultimate piece of puzzle for mankind. The poorest man is the person who has a God dream, but doesnt bring it to life. In fact, the richest place on earth is the graveyard because of the many who have died with their God dream still inside of them. A God dream lights a fire inside of you; you will even find it difficult to keep it enclosed. The potential that God has place in you makes way for your ability to write best selling books, to be a great Preacher or Pastor, to sing and write beautiful songs etc. A God dream, however, is not about you, its bigger then you, it about God using your abilities to accomplish something that ONLY He can do through you. Your potential is born inside of you; a God dream is given to you, everyone has potential but not you of us have a God dream. This book dissects Josephs magnificent trip in accomplishing his God dream and shows us how to fulfill ours. This book tells how you can, like Joseph, deal with your life pits and life prisons. Download or read book Children's Dreams written by C. G. Jung and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2012-01-12 with total page 523 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the 1930s C. G. Jung embarked upon a bold investigation into childhood dreams as remembered by adults to better understand their significance to the lives of the dreamers. Jung presented his findings in a four-year seminar series at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. Children's Dreams marks their first publication in English, and fills a critical gap in Jung's collected works. Here we witness Jung the clinician more vividly than ever before--and he is witty, impatient, sometimes authoritarian, always wise and intellectually daring, but also a teacher who, though brilliant, could be vulnerable, uncertain, and humbled by life's great mysteries. These seminars represent the most penetrating account of Jung's insights into children's dreams and the psychology of childhood. At the same time they offer the best example of group supervision by Jung, presenting his most detailed and thorough exposition of Jungian dream analysis and providing a picture of how he taught others to interpret dreams. Presented here in an inspired English translation commissioned by the Philemon Foundation, these seminars reveal Jung as an impassioned educator in dialogue with his students and developing the practice of analytical psychology. An invaluable document of perhaps the most important psychologist of the twentieth century at work, this splendid volume is the fullest representation of Jung's views on the interpretation of children's dreams, and signals a new wave in the publication of Jung's collected works as well as a renaissance in contemporary Jung studies.

Book Synopsis Where Are You Lord? by : Ginger Grancagnolo Ed.D.,D. Min.
Download or read book Where Are You Lord? written by Ginger Grancagnolo Ed.D.,D. Min. and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2024-01-30 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Some days can seem just ordinary. We awaken at a designated time with a head full of tasks, have-to and what ifs. We might check our phones and devices, getting info for the day that ranges from the weather, stocks, politics, and messages to “Alexa, turn on the coffee pot.” Somehow, this probable routine has become normal. Somehow, this may be how we prepare for an ordinary day with the intent that we might be ready and safe to greet the day with some level of pleasure and success. All this actually sounds reasonable. However, it only takes one traffic jam one late bus, one unexpected phone call, one breaking news alert, and this seemingly reliable system can easily crumble into dust carrying all positive goals and expectations with it. We would falter into distractions, upsets, frustrations and fatigue before noon, because of “something” or “someone” that knocks us off our purposed day and all without warning. Uncertainty bubbles up everywhere. Local and global news are filled with violence and upheaval on a regular basis. We are bombarded by the media on all our tech devices, and we now are even further conflicted with what has been phrased “Fake news.” We have access 24/7 to split-second, ongoing information, yet we don’t really know what is valid and what isn’t. We may feel the media, government, philosophies, dreams, goals and faith have all failed us. Whom or what can we trust? We do our best to analyze, understand the rapid pace of present lives, and somewhere deep inside we perhaps all want similar goals. We desire peace, prosperity, healthy bodies and relationships, and the opportunity to make some dreams come true personally and professionally. It all sounds reasonable. However, the biggest challenge may be how to bridge what we desire from inside our hearts with a world outside that feels often unsafe, biased and unfair. If we have ever tried to make clear sense of our lives, we probably have said, or even shouted, “Where are you, Lord?” Regardless of the mood we were in, asking or praying this plea may have mostly resulted in more quiet tears and confusion. I say this from my own experience. In fact, this missive is the result of my own confusion, pain and earnest desire to know the truth of God on a daily basis. I used one guiding Light based on one single truth: “Seek first the Kingdom of God, and all things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33) I wanted to know and feel a reliable relationship with God that was not slanted by my ego needs or imagination. I wanted to trust His truth, and then be guided to live with a practical spirituality that was rooted in joy, love, peace and wisdom that could serve everyone. This book is my personal encounter. It is not meant to be blindly accepted or rejected only shared. Each reader is encouraged to find his/her own way, so to speak. These pages are meant to provide a practical way to hear the inner Voice that is within all of us and to learn how to trust it and follow it. This inner Voice is always a gentle whisper of love and peace. It is steady and unwavering. It is reliable. It is permanent.
Download or read book Detour written by Noah Isenberg and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2019-07-25 with total page 117 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Long considered an unpolished gem of film noir, the private treasure of film buffs, cinephiles and critics, Edgar G. Ulmer's Detour (1945) has recently earned a new wave of recognition. In the words of film critic David Thomson, it is simply 'beyond remarkable.' The only B-picture to make it into the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress, Detour has outrun its fate as the bastard child of one of Hollywood's lowliest studios. Ulmer's film follows, in flashback, the journey of Al Roberts (Tom Neal), a pianist hitching from New York to California to join his girlfriend Sue (Claudia Drake), a singer gone to seek her fortune in Hollywood. In classic noir style, Detour features mysterious deaths, changes of identity, an unforgettable femme fatale called Vera (Ann Savage), and, in Roberts, a wretched, masochistic antihero. Noah Isenberg's study of Detour draws on a vast array of archival sources, unpublished letters and interviews, to provide an animated and thorough account of the film's production history, its critical reception, its afterlife (including various remakes) and the different ways in which the film has been understood since its release. He devotes significant attention to each of the key players in the film – the crew as well as the principal actors – while charting the uneasy transformation of Martin Goldsmith's pulp novel into Ulmer's signature film, the disagreements between the director and writer, and the severe financial and formal limitations with which Ulmer grappled. The story that Isenberg tells, rich in historical and critical insight, replicates the briskness of a B-movie.
