Download or read book Determination of Anions in Natural and Treated Waters written by T R Crompton and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2003-09-02 with total page 817 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As environmental controls are lagging behind industrial development, metals are an increasing hazard to humans, animal and plant life. Bioaccumulation of metals through the food chain creates a serious impact on public health yet analytical techniques for detecting the often low concentrations of contaminants are poorly understood. Determination of Anions in Natural and Treated Waters draws together the scattered literature and presents in a systematic fashion the latest available analytical techniques for detecting anions in non-saline and saline natural and treated water. Broad outlines of different methods and their applicability in certain situations are given allowing the chemist to choose appropriate test methods.

This book was released on 2020-10-28 with total page 774 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Determination of Metals and Anions in Soils, Sediments and Sludges is the first volume which comprehensively discusses the range of methods currently available for the analysis of metals and anions in soils, river and marine sediments and industrial sludges. There are specialist chapters on sampling, pollutant accumulation in sediments and bioaccumulation from soils to crops. A particular feature of this volume is its coverage of solid sewage, which is increasingly being applied to land as a fertilizer. An essential reference for chemists and toxicologists involved in water resource management, agrochemistry, fisheries and public health.

Book Synopsis Determination of Anions in High-Purity Water by Ion Chromatography by : JA. Rawa
Download or read book Determination of Anions in High-Purity Water by Ion Chromatography written by JA. Rawa and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 13 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Characterization of high-purity waters is a classic analytical problem because of lack of sample integrity as well as inaccuracies in the analytical methods employed for measurement. For industrial process water applications, the purity of water with low dissolved solids content has been traditionally determined by on-line monitoring of specific conductance and sodium. Trace concentrations of cations (sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium) present in demineralizer effluents, condensates, and high-pressure boiler and boiler feedwaters have been determined by flame or flameless atomic absorption. Previously, there was no accurate method for measuring trace concentrations of anionic constituents. The introduction of a new analytical technique, ion chromatography (IC), has facilitated the identification and quantitation of several anions--chloride, nitrate, orthophosphate, and sulfate at the micrograms-per-litre level. The IC technique incorporates the concepts of ion exchange and conductimetric detection. Without sample pretreatment, these anions can be accurately detected down to about 50 ?g/litre with a 100-?l sample injection. By concentrating the anions in the sample on a special low-capacity anion concentrator column (Dionex Corp.) prior to IC analysis, these same anions can be readily detected at
Book Synopsis Chemistry: Inorganic Qualitative Analysis in the Laboratory by : Clyde Metz
Download or read book Chemistry: Inorganic Qualitative Analysis in the Laboratory written by Clyde Metz and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chemistry: Inorganic Qualitative Analysis in the Laboratory is a textbook dealing with qualitative analysis in the laboratory, as well as with the process of anion and cation analysis. The book presents an overview of the subject of inorganic qualitative analysis, including as the equipment, reagents, and procedures that are going to be used in the laboratory. Preliminary experiments include the classification of precipitates, handling precipitates, separation techniques, flame tests, Brown ring test, solvent extraction. The text also describes in detail how to prepare the experiment for anion and cation analysis such as testing for water solubility in a solid sample or the sodium carbonate treatment of a water-soluble sample. The book also explains the qualitative analysis for anions in preliminary and specific tests. In the qualitative analysis for cations, the student follows different procedures for Cation Groups I, II, III, IV or V. For example, the ions of Cation Group V cannot be precipitated by any Cation Groups I-IV reagents, nor by any single group reagent. The textbook is suitable for both chemistry teachers and freshmen students.
