Book excerpt: Annotation Voice/Data Integration on Cisco Networks is both a conceptual reference and a practical how-to book that bridges the gap between existing telephony networks and the new world of packetized voice over data networks. Technologies are explained in a context that gives the reader a holistic understanding of voice/data integration. Reader can then follow a complete process to design and implement a variety of network scenarios, leveraging the author's experience with real voice/data networks. The audio accompaniment on CD-ROM will be an excellent companion to demonstrate the expected voice quality using different voice/data networking scenarios. This will allow professionals in the field to demonstrate different sound quality levels to customers.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: QoS is an important subject which occupies a central place in overall packet network technologies. A complex subject, its analysis involves such mathematical disciplines as probability, random variables, stochastic processes and queuing. These mathematical subjects are abstract, not easy to grasp for uninitiated persons. QoS in Packet Networks is written with two objectives. The first explains the fundamental mathematical concepts used in QoS analysis as plainly as possible, in layman's terms to afford the reader a better appreciation of the subject of QoS treated in this book. The second explains in plain language, the various parts of QoS in packet networks, to provide the reader with a complete view of this complex and dynamic area of communications networking technology. Discussion of the functional requirements of the packet networks to provide QoS is included.

Book excerpt: Covers the latest standards and those being developed in an ever-evolving field Provides insight into the latest technology of video and data over wireless networks and how convergence will be a driving force in this industry Provides an understanding of the true capabilities behind each vendor's solution to allow for informed buying decisions A recent survey of 500 U.S. companies with multiple locations found that 81% are planning to implement IP Telephony on their local area networks (LANs) in 2003, and two-thirds are looking at convergence for their wide area networks (WANs) as well. This includes voice, video and data over hard line and wireless networks. Today, new standards and technologies are being developed to support convergence and voice over IP (VoIP) and Video over IP and wireless. Because convergence covers the voice and data world, it will be critical to understand all of these environments. Voice, Video, and Data Network Convergence provides detailed information on convergence network models, protocol stacks, routing algorithms, gateways and switches required to support these networks. Covers the latest standards and those being developed in an ever-evolving field Provides insight into the latest technology of video and data over wireless networks and how convergence will be a driving force in this industry Provides an understanding of the true capabilities behind each vendor's solution to allow for informed buying decisions

This book was released on 2014-03-14 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Springer Brief investigates the voice and elastic/interactive data service support over cognitive radio networks (CRNs), in terms of their delay requirements. The increased demand for wireless communication conflicts with the scarcity of the radio spectrum, but CRNS allow for more efficient use of the networks. The authors review packet level delay requirements of the voice service and session level delay requirements of the elastic/interactive data services, particularly constant-rate and on-off voice traffic capacities in CRNs with centralized and distributed network coordination. Some generic channel access schemes are considered as the coordination mechanism, and call admission control algorithms are developed for non-fully-connected CRNs. Other key topics include the advantages of supporting voice traffic flows with different delay requirements, the mean response time of the elastic data traffic over a centralized CRN, and effects of the traffic load at the base station and file length (service time requirement) distribution on the mean response time. The brief is designed for professionals and researchers working with wireless networks, cognitive radio, and communications. It is also a helpful reference for advanced-level students interested in efficient wireless communications.
