This book was released on 2018 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This SAE Aerospace Specification (AS) is applicable to all aircraft. This AS defines the minimum design and operating requirements for the aircraft refueling interface. These requirements establish the minimum criteria for the aircraft design that provides practical standardized refueling system requirements, provides minimum standardized criteria for the operation and performance of any aircraft refueling equipment, and establishes an integrated minimum performance for aircraft refueling operations. This standardization provides the minimum design criteria to assure full compatibility between the aircraft refueling system connection point(s), aircraft operating characteristics, and the design and operation of ground based aircraft refueling equipment in all steady state and dynamic refueling and defueling conditions. The criteria that shall be used to test the operation and performance of the aircraft refueling system and equipment are also specified. Compliance to this AS shall be deemed to mean that the aircraft or aircraft refueling equipment are in compliance with this standard when the refueling system is tested as per the test requirements specified in ARP5918 (mobile systems). This document covers all types of ground aircraft refueling operations using stationary refueling equipment (e.g., cabinet type units) and mobile refueling vehicles (e.g., hydrant service vehicles, tankers, towable carts, etc.), to fuel aircraft with jet fuel that meets ASTM D1655, ASTM D6615, or DEF-STD-91-91 (including those fuels with synthetic blending components conforming to ASTM D7566). This document also covers fueling with other commercially available and approved fuels such as Gost TS-1 and Chinese jet fuel No. 3. Fuel quality control as detailed in A4A (Airlines for America) Specification 103 and/or EI 1530 is expected to be applied. In addition, the following military standards are also pertinent and referenced: MIL-DTL-5624 or MIL-DTL-83133 listed herein. The purpose of this SAE Aerospace Specification is to establish and disseminate the minimum recommended design and operating requirements of the aircraft refueling interfaces. This specification sets the minimum criteria for aircraft manufacturers and aircraft refueling equipment manufacturers to design compatible aircraft refueling operating systems that interface and operate with the same minimum requirements in all steady state and dynamic aircraft refueling and defueling conditions.

The fuel systems on board modern aircraft are multi-functional, fully integrated complex networks. They are designed to provide a proper and reliable management of fuel resources throughout all phases of operation, notwithstanding changes in altitude or speed, as well as to monitor system functionality and advise the flight crew of any operational anomalies that may develop. Collates together a wealth of information on fuel system design that is currently disseminated throughout the literature. Authored by leading industry experts from Airbus and Parker Aerospace. Includes chapters on basic system functions, features and functions unique to military aircraft, fuel handling, fuel quantity gauging and management, fuel systems safety and fuel systems design and development. Accompanied by a companion website housing a MATLAB/SIMULINK model of a modern aircraft fuel system that allows the user to set up flight conditions, investigate the effects of equipment failures and virtually fly preset missions. Aircraft Fuel Systems provides a timely and invaluable resource for engineers, project and programme managers in the equipment supply and application communities, as well as for graduate and postgraduate students of mechanical and aerospace engineering. It constitutes an invaluable addition to the established Wiley Aerospace Series.

This book was released on 2021 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A fuel level control valve/system controls the quantity of fuel in a tank being filled or emptied on the aircraft. This document provides a general familiarization with these mechanisms (e.g., forms they take, functions, system design considerations). This document provides the aircraft fuel system designer with information about these mechanisms/devices, so that he can prescribe the types of level control valves/systems which are best suited for his particular fuel system configuration. The scope has been expanded as different aircraft manufacturers may use different type of fuel system architectures. Their refueling and defueling systems may take different configurations, may require different types of fuel control valves and may require different types of interface with the onboard Fuel Measurement System. They must also limit pressure surges and be compatible with ground refueling equipment which have varying surge potentials and create surges. This revision to the Fuel Level Control Valve/System addresses the addition of more valve technologies and the interface of the refuel valves with the refuel system, including the Fuel Quantity Indication System.

Successful grounding design requires a thorough familiarity with theory combined with practical experience with real-world systems. Rarely taught in schools due to its complexity, identifying and implementing the appropriate solution to grounding problems is nevertheless a vital skill in the industrial world for any electrical engineer. In Grounds for Grounding, readers will discover a complete and thorough approach to the topic that blends theory and practice to demonstrate that a few rules apply to many applications. The book provides basic concepts of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) that act as the foundation for understanding grounding theory and its applications. Each avenue of grounding is covered in its own chapter, topics from safety aspects in facilities, lightning, and NEMP to printed circuit board, cable shields, and enclosure grounding, and more. Grounds for Grounding readers will also find: Revised and updated information presented in every chapter New chapters on grounding for generators, uninterruptible power sources (UPSs) New appendices including a grounding design checklist, grounding documentation content, and grounding verification procedures Grounds for Grounding is a useful reference for engineers in circuit design, equipment, and systems, as well as power engineers, platform, and facility designers.
