Book Synopsis Control Aspects of Complex Hydromechanical Transmissions by : L. Viktor Larsson

This book was released on 2017-08-17 with total page 75 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis deals with control aspects of complex hydromechanical transmissions. The overall purpose is to increase the knowledge of important aspects to consider during the development of hydromechanical transmissions to ensure transmission functionality. These include ways of evaluating control strategies in early design stages as well as dynamic properties and control aspects of displacement controllers, which are key components in these systems. Fuel prices and environmental concerns are factors that drive research on propulsion in heavy construction machinery. Hydromechanical transmissions are strong competitors to conventional torque-converter transmissions used in this application today. They offer high efficiency and wide speed/torque conversion ranges, and may easily be converted to hybrids that allow further fuel savings through energy recuperation. One challenge with hydromechanical transmissions is that they offer many different configurations, which in turn makes it important to enable evaluation of control aspects in early design stages. In this thesis, hardware-in-the-loop simulations, which blend hardware tests and standard software-based simulations, are considered to be a suitable method. A multiple-mode transmission applied to a mid-sized construction machine is modelled and evaluated in offline simulations as well as in hardware-in-the-loopsimulations. Hydromechanical transmissions rely on efficient variable pumps/motors with fast, accurate displacement controllers. This thesis studies the dynamic behaviour of the displacement controller in swash-plate axial-piston pumps/motors. A novel control approach in which the displacement is measured with an external sensor is proposed. Performance and limitations of the approach are tested in simulations and in experiments. The experiments showed a significantly improved performance with a controller that is slightly more advanced than a standard proportional controller. The implementation of the controller allows simple tuning and good predictability of the displacement response.

In order to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the association and the 10th anniversary of the journal, we will hold the following activities this year. 1. Continue to convene the fourth International Conference Symposium of 2013 on Construction Machinery and Vehicle Engineering Research Progress. 2. Continue to convene the fifth National Mechanical Engineering Doctoral Forum. This forum will be held in Xuzhou and the time is from August 20 to August 24 in 2013. 3. The highlevel expert forum will be held during Changsha Engineering Machinery Parts Expo. A dialogue will be taken on the issues of industry scientific innovation, accessories, testing and quality among universities, research institutes and enterprises. 4. The celebrations about the 20th anniversary of the association and the 10th anniversary of the journal will be conducted in Shanghai. The coun cil of the new editorial board and the executive director is convened for summing up the work of the association since it was founded 20 years ago and the work of the journal since it was founded 10 years ago, and planning for the future development. This International Conference is held in the circumstance of international economic crisis and domestic industrial structure adjustment. In the past year, sales market of construction machinery has been subjected to a certain shocks, and the enterprises have en countered a certain difficulties. For the future, however, I believe that such difficulties are temporary, and the prospect is bright. The construction machinery is to serve the mining and state infrastructure construction, and for China, along with most c ountries in the world which are developing countries, the infrastructure construction is still a significant part in the course of development, and the sound infrastructure will promote the development of their economies, even these countries which are in the leading position in economy development also attach great importance to the improvement of infrastructure. Therefore, construction machinery is indispensable and has a rigid demand. Currently, the international competition has not been only limited to terrestrial, since the possession of terrestrial was a foregone conclusion, but there will be more

Book Synopsis Vehicle Powertrain Systems by : David Crolla
Download or read book Vehicle Powertrain Systems written by David Crolla and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2011-12-30 with total page 563 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The powertrain is at the heart of vehicle design; the engine – whether it is a conventional, hybrid or electric design – provides the motive power, which is then managed and controlled through the transmission and final drive components. The overall powertrain system therefore defines the dynamic performance and character of the vehicle. The design of the powertrain has conventionally been tackled by analyzing each of the subsystems individually and the individual components, for example, engine, transmission and driveline have received considerable attention in textbooks over the past decades. The key theme of this book is to take a systems approach – to look at the integration of the components so that the whole powertrain system meets the demands of overall energy efficiency and good drivability. Vehicle Powertrain Systems provides a thorough description and analysis of all the powertrain components and then treats them together so that the overall performance of the vehicle can be understood and calculated. The text is well supported by practical problems and worked examples. Extensive use is made of the MATLAB(R) software and many example programmes for vehicle calculations are provided in the text. Key features: Structured approach to explaining the fundamentals of powertrain engineering Integration of powertrain components into overall vehicle design Emphasis on practical vehicle design issues Extensive use of practical problems and worked examples Provision of MATLAB(R) programmes for the reader to use in vehicle performance calculations This comprehensive and integrated analysis of vehicle powertrain engineering provides an invaluable resource for undergraduate and postgraduate automotive engineering students and is a useful reference for practicing engineers in the vehicle industry

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It all began way back in 1984 when I began my career in the field of dynamometer and engine testing when after years of gut-feeling and study I realized that there is a need for a book on dynamometer and its application to engine testing. As automotive and dynamometer industry is growing worldwide the concern eventually became so great I felt a book devoted to the subject was warranted. The book Dynamometer-Theory and Application to Engine Testing is a book dedicated to various dynamometers and how they are applied to engine testing. The book also discusses the essentials of modern test cell and the instrumentation, data acquisition system and other accessories that are employed in modern test cell. After having worked in the filed of industrial compressors, pumps, material handling equipment, dynamometer field and software industry I decided to write this book which will help the people working in the automotive industry, engine and vehicle testing, people working in the dynamometer and instrumentation industry and electrical motor industry. The book will be of interest to the studenrs of mechanical and automobile engineering. The book will be of great value to the incumbents entering in the automotive and dynamometer fields.
