The compiler began his work about twenty years ago by personal search of records in the early homes of the Cadys in Massachusetts and Eastern Connecticut. Since then the work has been continued, as time permitted, by research in many other localities, in private and public records, and by extensive correspondence with members of the family in most of the states of the Union. Hundreds of letters have been sent requesting records, but it is to be regretted that some of them have received no response, thus allowing a partial lack of data which a little attention might have supplied.
