Hintergrund dieser Fragestellung sind die umfangreichen Theorien, die hinter den jeweiligen Ansätzen stehen. Diese heben sich beträchtlich und eindeutig voneinander ab, woraus sich das Erkenntnisinteresse ergibt, ob sich derartige Unterschiede auch in der praktischen Anwendung der Beratungsansätze manifestieren. Gang der Untersuchung: Der erste Teil der Arbeit widmet sich der Darstellung der Theorien sowohl der klassischen als auch der systemischen Organisationsberatung. Als Ausformungen der klassischen Organisationsberatung wurden die Expertenberatung, die Prozessberatung und die Organisationsentwicklung in die Arbeit aufgenommen. Die Beratungsansätze wurden nach den folgenden Kriterien untersucht: Grundannahmen und Weltbild, Organisationsbegriff, Menschenbild, Rolle des Beraters, Methoden und Interventionen. Ein Vergleich des klassischen mit dem systemischen Beratungsansatz rundet den ersten Teil ab. Der zweite Teil der Arbeit enthält eine empirische Untersuchung. Es wurden Interviews sowohl mit Kunden einer klassischen als auch mit Kunden einer systemischen Beratung geführt und mit Hilfe eines Kategoriensystems inhaltsanalytisch ausgewertet. Aus der Zusammenfassung von paraphrasierten Aussagen aus den Interviews ergaben sich Zuordnungen zu Unterkategorien, die wiederum den Hauptkategorien Menschenbild, Rolle des Beraters, Methoden und Interventionen zugeordnet wurden. Die Ergebnisse dieser Auswertung wurden mithilfe einer Häufigkeitsanalyse gegenübergestellt. Nach den Ergebnissen der empirischen Untersuchung zu schließen, scheinen sich die beträchtlichen theoretischen Differenzen zwischen den verschiedenen Beratungsansätzen auch auf die Praxis auszuwirken. In der Wahrnehmung der Kunden stellt sich die systemische Organisationsberatung eher als Begleitprozess zu einer eigenständigen Lösung des Problems dar, während die klassische Organisationsberatung eher dem Einkauf einer Lösung entspricht.
