Dabei beschäftige ich mich mit der folgenden Fragestellung: Was sind die Auswirkungen, wenn Familien nach einem langen Weg die Diagnose Autismus erst im Jugendalter der betroffenen Person erfahren? Um diese Frage zu beantworten, nutze ich verschiedene Literaturquellen und die qualitative Erhebungsmethode. Dafür berichtet eine Therapeutin über ihre Erfahrungen und die Eltern eines autistischen Mädchens erzählen, wie lange die Diagnose gedauert hat, nachdem Anzeichen für ein nicht normales Verhalten vorhanden waren. Im ersten Teil der Facharbeit werden die theoretischen Grundlagen vorgestellt. Zu Beginn wird Autismus definiert. Danach werden die Formen von Autismus mit ihren Merkmalen beschrieben. Im Anschluss folgt der Weg bis zur Diagnose und das Familienleben, auf das die Diagnose Einfluss nimmt, dargestellt. Am Ende des theoretischen Teils werden die Therapiemöglichkeiten präsentiert. Nachdem ich im ersten Teil der Arbeit auf die theoretischen Grundlagen eingegangen bin, werde ich im empirischen Teil in Form einer qualitativen Erhebungsmethode neue Erkenntnisse sammeln. Anschließend werde ich diese nach der Mayring-Methode auswerten und auf die vorherigen theoretischen Grundlagen beziehen. Zum Schluss beantworte ich nach einer Zusammenfassung der Ergebnisse meine Fragestellung. Ich habe mich für das Thema „Der lange Weg zur Autismus- Diagnose bei Mädchen“ entschieden, da ich über einen Familienentlastenden Dienst eine Familie betreue, der ein Mädchen mit einer leichten Form von Autismus angehört. Von dieser Familie habe ich erfahren, dass sie einen langen Weg bis zur Diagnose gegangen sind. Das Erkennen von Autismus bei Mädchen kann schwierig sein, denn sie können sich ‚tarnen‘ und an andere Menschen anpassen, das bedeutet, sie können ihren Autismus verstecken. Aus diesem Grund ist es für Ärzte und Therapeuten schwierig, eine Diagnose im Jugendalter zu stellen. Dadurch ist es nicht einfach, das andere sich das Leben von autistischen Mädchen vorzustellen. Der Weg bis zur Diagnose ist bei Jungen meist nicht so langwierig; entscheidend ist auch die Kompetenz des Fachpersonals. Bei Jungen ist Autismus leichter zu erkennen, da sie sich nicht unbedingt an andere Personen anpassen. Es gibt nicht den typischen Autistin*innen, da jeder in seiner Persönlichkeit und Verhaltensweisen unterschiedlich ist.

While the first two domains have frequently been addressed in articles and debates (think of the mind-body problem and the problem of institutionalization versus self-determination as examples of issues in the two fields), the question of how the mind should be conceived in order for psychopathology to work best has seldom been discussed. The present volume focuses on this question. Perception, thought, affect, will, and the like are terms which made their way from philosophy into psychology, and into present psychiatry, where disturbances of these "faculties" or "functions" are believed to form the most basic part of symptomatology. While these terms and many others that are used to refer to symptoms of mental disorder (such as "self', "consciousness", "drive", and "identity") may seem to be purely descriptive and theoretically "innocent", they are packed with implicit assumptions, theoretical concepts, and sometimes dogmatic postulates.

Instead the collection positions extreme experiments (where research subjects were taken to the point of death) within a far wider spectrum of abusive coerced research. The book considers the experiments not in isolation but as integrated within wider aspects of medical provision as it became caught up in the Nazi war economy, revealing that researchers were opportunistic and retained considerable autonomy. The sacrifice of so many prisoners, patients and otherwise healthy people rounded up as detainees raises important issues about the identities of the research subjects: who were they, how did they feel, how many research subjects were there and how many survived? This underworld of the victims of the elite science of German medical institutes and clinics has until now remained a marginal historical concern. Jews were a target group, but so were gypsies/Sinti and Roma, the mentally ill, prisoners of war and partisans. By exploring when and in what numbers scientists selected one group rather than another, the book provides an important record of the research subjects having agency, reconstructing responses and experiential narratives, and recording how these experiments – iconic of extreme racial torture – represent one of the worst excesses of Nazism.
