Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Jesus von Nazaret by : Jens Schröter

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. [Jesus from Nazaret. Jew from Galiläa – Savior of the World] What can we know about Jesus of Nazaret? This book authored by the renowned Berlin New Testament scholar Jens Schröter searches for the earliest traces of the itinerant preacher from the Galilee who was deeply rooted in Jewish traditions of his time and became the central figure of what is today the world's largest religion. Thereby, new results from archaeological excavations of places of Jesus' activity as well as insights from current Jesus research are considered. Schröter sketches a vivid portrait of Jesus in his time by tracing his activity in the Galilee and his passion and crucifixion in Jerusalem. The book, however, does not end with Jesus' death, but also deals with the beginnings of faith in Jesus as the Christ, the savior of the world, and early interpretations of his person in canonical and non-canonical writings.

Download or read book Jesus - der Messias Israels? written by Bernard Mallmann and published by Verlag Herder. This book was released on 2023 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. --

Book Synopsis Who Created Christianity? by : Craig Evans
Download or read book Who Created Christianity? written by Craig Evans and published by Hendrickson Publishers. This book was released on 2021-10-05 with total page 430 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who Created Christianity? is a collection of essays by top international Christian scholars who desire to reinforce the relationship that Paul had with Jesus and Christianity. There is a general sense today among Christians in certain circles that Pauls teachings to the early Christian church are thought to be "rogue," even clashing at times with Jesus words. Yet these essays set out to prove that the tradition that Paul passes on is one received from Jesus, not separate from it. The essays in this volume come from a diverse and international group of scholars. They offer up-to-date studies of the teachings of Paul and how the specific teachings directly relate to the earlier teachings of Jesus. This volume explores with even greater focus than ever before the tradition from which Paul emerges and the specific teachings that are part of this tradition. This collection of essays proposes a complementary work to the work of David Wenham and his thesis that Paul was indeed not the founder of Christianity or the creator of Christian dogma; instead he was a faithful disciple and a conveyer of a prior Christian tradition. Key points and features: • Includes essays by well-known Christian scholars such as Craig Blomberg, Alister McGrath, N. T. Wright, Michael Bird, Greg Beale, and more. CONTRIBUTORS: 1. Book Synopsis Markan Typology by : Jonathan Rivett Robinson
Download or read book Markan Typology written by Jonathan Rivett Robinson and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2022-11-17 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Responding to the belief that typology was a later development of the early church, and not applicable to the earliest canonical Gospel, Jonathan Robinson stresses that typology has deep Jewish roots, and that typological modes of thought were a significant part of the Gospel's historical and cultural background. He brings this insight to bear on four of the most dramatic miracles in Mark's Gospel, discovering a surprisingly consistent typological approach. Essential to Robinson's argument is the discovery of distinctive words and phrases taken from the Septuagint, that serve as unique indictors of Mark's intent to refer back to miracles from the Jewish scriptures, pointing to influence from Jonah, David, Elisha and Moses. These references in turn provide insight into Mark's Christology, revealing that Mark presents Jesus as both the fulfilment of scriptural human types and as assuming the narrative form of Israel's God. Robinson argues that rather than imposing categories extracted from earlier Jewish literature like “divine identity” and “exalted human figures”, Mark should be allowed to speak on its own terms and with its own unique voice.
