Unser heutiges Ernährungsverhalten bedarf nicht nur deshalb einer ganzheitlichen Wende, damit eine nachhaltige Ernährung „normal“ werden kann. Unser Konsum an Fleisch, Milchprodukten und Eiern ist dermaßen extrem, dass nach Aussage des Umweltministeriums Rheinland-Pfalz, dadurch „mehr Treibhausgase als der gesamte Verkehr weltweit – mit allen Autos, Bussen, Zügen, Flugzeugen und Schiffen zusammen" verursacht werden. Diese Arbeit dient dazu herauszufinden, welche Herausforderungen und Chancen für eine nachhaltige Ernährung bestehen und welche Konsequenzen sich aus diesen Erkenntnissen für den Alltag ergeben. Es wird der Frage nachgegangen, welchen Einfluss unsere Essgewohnheiten auf die globalen Probleme haben und was durch eine nachhaltige Ernährung zu erreichen wäre. Abschließend sollen Entwicklungen von Lösungsansätzen dargestellt werden, ob eine nachhaltige Ernährung in Zukunft „normal“ beziehungsweise selbstverständlich werden kann.
