Book Synopsis Particulate Deposition from Turbulent Parallel Streams by :
Download or read book Particulate Deposition from Turbulent Parallel Streams written by and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A theory is developed for particulate deposition rate on surfaces from turbulent gas streams. The three characteristic times, the particle equilibration time, the turbulent fluctuation time, and the particle residence time, control the deposition mode. The larger particles reach the wall across the laminar sublayer because of the momentum imparted to them by the turbulence velocity of the fluid. The smaller particles, on the other hand, diffuse to the wall by thermophoresis which depends on the temperature gradient. The computed results of the theory for pipe flow are compared with the available experimental data and satisfactory agreement is shown.

Book Synopsis STUDIES IN MICROMERITICS. II. THE DEPOSITION OF PARTICLES IN CIRCULAR CONDUITS DUE TO THERMAL GRADIENTS. by :
Download or read book STUDIES IN MICROMERITICS. II. THE DEPOSITION OF PARTICLES IN CIRCULAR CONDUITS DUE TO THERMAL GRADIENTS. written by and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The deposition of particles from turbulent gas streams due to thermal gradients was predicted using a simplified flow medel. In the medels particle concentration was assumed constant in the turbulent region. The particle deposition velocity was taken to be the radial velocity of thermal - repulsion in the laminar sublayer. Temperature gradients in the laminar sublayer were calculated for constant wall temperature using the Reynoldss analogy. The loss magnilude of suspended particles from loss due to thermal deposition is not generally greats and is most important for submicron particles. (auth).

Book excerpt: In this series Rajiv Kohli and Kash Mittal have brought together the work of experts from different industry sectors and backgrounds to provide a state-of-the-art survey and best-practice guidance for scientists and engineers engaged in surface cleaning or handling the consequences of surface contamination. The expert contributions in this volume cover important fundamental aspects of surface contamination that are key to understanding the behavior of specific types of contaminants. This understanding is essential to develop preventative and mitigation methods for contamination control. The coverage complements the treatment of surface contamination in vol.1, Fundamental and Applied Aspects. This volume covers: Sources and Generation of Particles; Manipulation Techniques for Particles on Surfaces; Particle Deposition and Rebound; Particle Behavior in Liquid Systems; Biological and Metallic Contamination; and includes a comprehensive list of current standards and resources. - Comprehensive coverage of innovations in surface contamination and cleaning - Written by established experts in the contamination and cleaning field - Each chapter is a comprehensive review of the state of the art - Case studies included
