Thus, I’ve had the opportunity to see, listen and learn, which has been much more beneficial than college education. Having studied journalism, I am a news freak who is glued to TV without sleeping 72 hours when incidents such as 9/11 or 26/11 happen. In my opinion (and I have been known for being outspoken), India is nowhere close to greatness. At the risk of sounding like a naysayer, I would say we were (until May 2014), and in many ways still are, closer to anarchy and chaos. I have read many books and opinion pieces, watched many TV interviews and heard a lot of gyaan from several gyaanis, but no one has come close to explaining what all is wrong with India, or how to fix it. I do not profess to be a philosopher or a visionary. But I do have some ideas, which I want to share with my countrymen … and a lot of the same would probably apply in many other nations as well. All I heard was “the system is wrong … and it can’t be fixed”. After just 51 months of Modi as Prime Minister, people are wondering what WAS going on for 67 years before him. Yes, the system is wrong … but IS BEING fixed, and this book just gives some additional ideas to Mr. Modi, but I woun't be surprised if he knows most of it and has it on his agenda. This book outlines 72 items which are pending action from the governments over the years, as India nears 72 years of independence from the UK. The time has come to finish the uncomplete agenda.

Is myth archaic, or is it part of all societies and thus modern as well? Is it part of religion and/or science, or does it contrast with these? Most vexingly, does myth designate falsehood, or the highest forms of truth-those that form the core, guiding principles of particular societies' engagements of the cosmos and life within it? There is also the double signification of the term mythology, which points to both an academic tradition and the object studied by that tradition. Our view is that while such antinomies are unlikely to be resolved in the foreseeable future, much can be gained by locating and identifying them and by attempting to understand how and why they have emerged. We hope that this approach not only lends clarity to the topic of myth, but also serves to energize the study to which we now turn"--

Book excerpt: When framers of the American Constitution debated the document (and form of government) in 1787, they chose not to adopt the British system as they knew its flaws. In 230 years, USA has grown beyond what the framers could have envisioned, but the Constitution has endured. The American President has far less powers than the British PM. British PM William Evert Gladstone had said: “Nowhere is there a man who has so much power with so little to show for it in the way of formal title or prerogative.” British historian Sir Sidney JM Low wrote in 1904: “An English Prime Minister, with his majority secure in parliament, can do what the German Emperor, the American President, and all the Chairmen of all the Committees of the United States’ Congress, cannot do (together).” India was already the world’s largest democracy on August 15, 1947, but, for almost 2½ years, we followed the British Constitution. The 6-member Constitution Drafting Committee, with Dr. B.R. Ambedkar as Chairman, prepared a draft Constitution. This was debated and 2000+ amendments were moved over two years. On November 26, 1949, the Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution. The committee had several choices in which model to follow. In 1947, USA’s population was about 44% of India, but we still chose to adopt a system from a country which was just 15% our size. ALL BECAUSE OF ONE MAN WHO HAD VERY CAREFULLY READ SIR LOW’S WORDS AND WANTED THAT ABSOLUTE POWER FOR HIMSELF. Has the parliamentary form of government worked for us over the past 68 years?
