Book Synopsis PROMOTION DE LA SANTE ET AUTONOMISATION DANS LE CONTEXTE AFRICAIN by : David HouŽto
Download or read book PROMOTION DE LA SANTE ET AUTONOMISATION DANS LE CONTEXTE AFRICAIN written by David HouŽto and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2014-02-26 with total page 327 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Refractory Status Epilepticus by : Xuefeng Wang
Download or read book Refractory Status Epilepticus written by Xuefeng Wang and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-09-05 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book aims to offer the accumulated fertile experience of treating drug-resistant epileptic patients collected over the past few decades, focusing on aspects of neurology, neurosurgery, emergency care, critical care medicine and basic medical research. Refractory status epilepticus is one of the most common severe and acute diseases in neurology and neurocritical care; it is also the main cause of death in epileptic patients. In the context of prevention and treatment processes, it is not only necessary to terminate epileptic seizures, but to also address the disruption of the patient’s internal environment and provide critical life support. Effective treatment calls for multi-disciplinary support from neurology, neurosurgery, emergency care, critical care medicine, and other fields. Further, since the clinical features of epileptic seizure are not specific, it is necessary to differentiate it from other diseases that produce convulsions, disorders of consciousness, syncope, mental and behavioral disorders, myoclonus, etc., to avoid misdiagnosis. In this book, it comprehensively and systematically describes the basic knowledge as well as prevention and treatment tips, providing an invaluable reference resource for medical students and professionals in neurology, neurosurgery, emergency care and critical care medicine.

Book Synopsis Health System Performance Comparison: an Agenda for Policy, Information and Research by : Irene Papanicolas
Download or read book Health System Performance Comparison: an Agenda for Policy, Information and Research written by Irene Papanicolas and published by McGraw-Hill Education (UK). This book was released on 2013-06-16 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: International comparison of health system performance has become increasingly popular, made possible by the rapidly expanding availability of health data. It has become one of the most important levers for prompting health system reform. Yet, as the demand for transparency and accountability in healthcare increases, so too does the need to compare data from different health systems both accurately and meaningfully. This timely and authoritative book offers an important summary of the current developments in health system performance comparison. It summarises the current state of efforts to compare systems, and identifies and explores the practical and conceptual challenges that occur. It discusses data and methodological challenges, as well as broader issues such as the interface between evidence and practice. The book draws out the priorities for future work on performance comparison, in the development of data sources and measurement instruments, analytic methodology, and assessment of evidence on performance. It concludes by presenting the key lessons and future priorities, and in doing so offers a rich source of material for policy-makers, their analytic advisors, international agencies, academics and students of health systems.

Download or read book A Textbook of Audiological Medicine written by Linda Luxon and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2002-12-19 with total page 928 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Audiological medicine is a relatively new specialty spanning the investigation, diagnosis and medical management of hearing and balance disorders. Recent years have seen its growth as a separate medical discipline, although its practice depends not only upon a clear understanding of the basic sciences relevant to auditory and vestibular function, but also upon experience and knowledge in a wide range of clinical disciplines relevant to hearing and balance disorders, including genetics, immunology, pediatrics, geriatrics, neurology, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, psychiatry and general internal medicine. A Textbook of Audiological Medicine integrates the science and medicine of auditory and vestibular disorders, providing the first comprehensive textbook on the subject. There are five main sections; the first deals with both the auditory and vestibular systems, and then each system is considered in terms of the relevant basic sciences and clinical disorders.
