La reconnaissance croissante de l’importance des forêts pour endiguer le changement climatique a introduit un nouvel élan dans la lutte contre la déforestation et la dégradation de la forêt tropicale. La plupart des pays de bassin du Congo sont activement engagés dans un processus de préparation des cadres et stratégies-cadre capable de créer des incitations à « réduire les émissions dues à la déforestation et à la dégradation des forêts », encourageant « la conservation et la gestion durable des forêts ainsi que l’amélioration de la séquestration du carbone par les forêts » (REDD+). Ils travaillent ainsi d’ores-et-déjà à renforcer leur capacité de suivi des émissions liées aux forêts, à améliorer la gouvernance des forêts, à promouvoir le développement et à réduire la pauvreté, tout en protégeant les ressources naturelles de la région. This book explains the current forest carbon cycle in temperate and Mediterranean climates, including the dynamics of soil carbon and the total carbon stock of French forests, based on forest inventories. It reviews and illustrates the main ground-based methods for estimating carbon stocks in tree biomass. Spatial variations in projected climate change over metropolitan France throughout the 21st century are described. The book then goes on to consider the impacts of climate change on tree phenology and forest carbon balance, evapotranspiration and production as well as their first order interaction with forest management alternatives. The impact of climate change on forest vulnerability is analysed. A similar simulation study was carried out for a range of pathogenic fungi, emphasizing the importance of both warming and precipitation changes. The consequences of climate change on the occurrence of forest fires and the forest carbon cycle in the Mediterranean zone are also considered.A valuable reference for researchers and academics, forest engineers and managers, and graduate level students in forest ecology, ecological modelling and forestry.

Les propositions des rapporteurs sont les suivantes : – augmenter, dans les écoles d’officiers, la proportion de places offertes aux étudiants ayant déjà accompli un premier parcours universitaire ; – encourager les grandes écoles militaires à décloisonner leurs cursus pour tendre vers des modèles d’écoles uniques, assorties d’un insigne commun ; – augmenter la proportion d’élèves-officiers effectuant un semestre de scolarité dans un autre établissement d’enseignement supérieur et accueillir, dans le même temps, une plus grande proportion d’étudiants issus de ces établissements ; – augmenter la proportion d’élèves-officiers effectuant un semestre de scolarité dans une académie militaire étrangère et accueillir, dans le même temps, une plus grande proportion de cadets issus de ces établissements ; – encourager les écoles militaires à adopter un statut d’établissement public à caractère scientifique, culturel et professionnel (EPSCP) ; – favoriser la création, dans chacune des armées, d’écoles à destination des élèves en situation d’échec scolaire, en y consacrant des moyens spécifiques ; – doter au plus vite les armées d’un outil complet de connaissance des coûts de l’appareil de formation ; – définir une méthodologie, commune aux trois armées, permettant de préparer et de développer des partenariats de formation avec les industriels ; – amplifier la féminisation des effectifs des cadres des écoles et des centres de recrutement pour promouvoir la mixité des choix de carrière des femmes.
