These writings are my own experiences that have been lived out day by day. They are written in order as given to me and are not mind-controlled, but Spirit-given to me alone. My life is not my own for it belongs to God. As He has given to me, I share with those who read these pages one by one. This is the second in a series of three books which chronicle my progression from duality to oneness in God.

Book excerpt: The world has a love affair--with itself. Armed with Facebook, Twitter, and blogs, we think of ourselves as mini celebrities, and we use consumption and technology to convince our friends that this facade is who we are. Veneer illustrates that consumption is more than just acquiring more stuff; it is a potentially dangerous mindset--a mindset turning everything, even people, into products. According to authors Timothy Willard and R. Jason Locy, there is evidence of consumption in all channels of culture--even the church. Most Christian commentators suggest that the church should speak the language of the congregants. Willard and Locy suggest the opposite approach: if congregants are steeped in a culture of consumption, the church should not speak their language at all. Veneer encourages the church to become a refreshing voice amidst a veneered world, inviting you to lead an unveneered life of freedom, honesty, and beauty. Taking on an original concept that addresses the potential dangers of consumption and technology, Veneer speaks to many Christians who are unsure how to live with true meaning among the ever-changing trends and technology our culture offers.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A study of the importance of psychedelic plants and drugs in religion and society • With contributions by Albert Hofmann, R. Gordon Wasson, Jack Kornfield, Terence McKenna, the Shulgins, Rick Strassman, and others • Explores the importance of academic and religious freedom in the study of psychedelics and the mind • Exposes the need for an organized spiritual context for entheogen use in order to fully realize their transformative and sacred value We live in a time when a great many voices are calling for a spiritual renewal to address the problems that face humanity, yet the way of entheogens--one of the oldest and most widespread means of attaining a religious experience--is forbidden, surrounded by controversy and misunderstanding. Widely employed in traditional shamanic societies, entheogens figure prominently in the origins of religion and their use continues today throughout the world. They alter consciousness in such a profound way that, depending on the set and setting, they can produce the ultimate human experiences: union with God or revelation of other mystical realities. With contributions by Albert Hofmann, Terence McKenna, Ann and Alexander Shulgin, Thomas Riedlinger, Dale Pendell, and Rick Strassman as well as interviews with R. Gordon Wasson and Jack Kornfield, this book explores ancient and modern uses of psychedelic drugs, emphasizing the complementary relationship between science and mystical experience and the importance of psychedelics to the future of religion and society. Revealing the mystical-religious possibilities of substances such as psilocybin mushrooms, mescaline, and LSD, this book exposes the vital need for developing an organized spiritual context for their use in order to fully realize their transformative and sacred value. Stressing the importance of academic and religious freedom, the authors call for a revival of scientific and religious inquiry into entheogens so they may be used safely and legally by those seeking to cultivate their spiritual awareness.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book delves into a captivating exploration of astrology within the context of the simulated multiverse hypothesis. Merging the ancient wisdom of astrology with the speculative concept of simulated realities, we embark on a thought-provoking journey to investigate the potential interplay between celestial patterns and the fabric of a simulated universe. By examining astrology as a symbolic language that seeks to decode cosmic influences, we explore the intriguing possibility of how these celestial patterns could manifest within a simulated multiverse. Drawing from astrological principles, such as planetary alignments, zodiac signs, and aspects, we delve into the hypothesis that simulated realities could incorporate programmed astrological phenomena to shape the experiences and trajectories of its simulated inhabitants. Through a nuanced analysis, this book explores the implications of astrology within a simulated multiverse framework. We investigate the hypothetical mechanisms through which celestial archetypes and energies could be simulated, considering how they might be influenced by the underlying algorithms or governing principles of the simulated reality. Furthermore, we explore the potential role of astrology within a simulated multiverse in providing a sense of meaning, purpose, and guidance to its inhabitants. By considering the possibility of programmed synchronicities and alignments, we delve into how astrology could serve as a navigational tool, aiding simulated beings in understanding their unique roles and life paths within the simulated multiverse. While acknowledging the speculative nature of both astrology and the simulated multiverse, this book aims to provoke interdisciplinary discussions and encourage further exploration into the intersection of these intriguing realms. By bridging the esoteric wisdom of astrology with the mind-bending possibilities of simulated realities, we aspire to shed new light on the potential connections between cosmic patterns and the multifaceted nature of existence within a simulated multiverse. This book presents an engaging exploration of astrology within the context of the simulated multiverse hypothesis. By contemplating the potential interactions between celestial influences and a programmed reality, we invite readers to ponder the intricate tapestry that might unfold when astrology meets the simulated multiverse, urging further inquiry into the nature of both these captivating domains.

Book excerpt: At the outset, it may appear that astrology and the simulated multiverse theory are two entirely distinct and unrelated areas of study. On one hand, astrology is often linked with esoteric practices and supernatural beliefs that are traditionally regarded as separate from the realm of empirical science. On the other hand, the simulated multiverse theory is a cutting-edge scientific concept that postulates the existence of multiple universes, created and controlled through advanced computer simulations. Despite their seemingly disparate nature, it is interesting to note that there are several fascinating and thought-provoking reasons why astrology and the simulated multiverse theory may be more closely linked than what meets the eye. For instance, both these fields of study invite us to question the fundamental nature of reality, and explore the idea that there may be more to our existence than what we can perceive with our limited senses.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Among the most important problems confronting computer science is that of developing a paradigm appropriate to the discipline. Proponents of formal methods - such as John McCarthy, C.A.R. Hoare, and Edgar Dijkstra - have advanced the position that computing is a mathematical activity and that computer science should model itself after mathematics. Opponents of formal methods - by contrast, suggest that programming is the activity which is fundamental to computer science and that there are important differences that distinguish it from mathematics, which therefore cannot provide a suitable paradigm. Disagreement over the place of formal methods in computer science has recently arisen in the form of renewed interest in the nature and capacity of program verification as a method for establishing the reliability of software systems. A paper that appeared in Communications of the ACM entitled, `Program Verification: The Very Idea', by James H. Fetzer triggered an extended debate that has been discussed in several journals and that has endured for several years, engaging the interest of computer scientists (both theoretical and applied) and of other thinkers from a wide range of backgrounds who want to understand computer science as a domain of inquiry. The editors of this collection have brought together many of the most interesting and important studies that contribute to answering questions about the nature and the limits of computer science. These include early papers advocating the mathematical paradigm by McCarthy, Naur, R. Floyd, and Hoare (in Part I), others that elaborate the paradigm by Hoare, Meyer, Naur, and Scherlis and Scott (in Part II), challenges, limits and alternatives explored by C. Floyd, Smith, Blum, and Naur (in Part III), and recent work focusing on formal verification by DeMillo, Lipton, and Perlis, Fetzer, Cohn, and Colburn (in Part IV). It provides essential resources for further study. This volume will appeal to scientists, philosophers, and laypersons who want to understand the theoretical foundations of computer science and be appropriately positioned to evaluate the scope and limits of the discipline.

Ira Lapidus' history explores the beginnings and transformations of Islamic civilizations in the Middle East and details Islam's worldwide diffusion. The history is divided into four parts. Part I is a comprehensive account of pre-Islamic late antiquity; the beginnings of Islam; the early Islamic empires; and Islamic religious, artistic, legal and intellectual cultures. Part II deals with the construction in the Middle East of Islamic religious communities and states to the fifteenth century. Part III includes the history to the nineteenth century of Islamic North Africa and Spain; the Ottoman, Safavid and Mughal empires; and other Islamic societies in Asia and Africa. Part IV accounts for the impact of European commercial and imperial domination on Islamic societies and traces the development of the modern national state system and the simultaneous Islamic revival from the early nineteenth century to the present.
