Book excerpt: As for this fourth book, each topic of the books explains the following matters: Faith and Deeds In the year 2014 to 2019 there are sixteen signs in the sky related to Jesus second coming as mentioned in Acts 2:20. People's response to these celestial signs can be divided into three groups: the group of unbelievers, the group of people who solely believe, and the group who believe and act upon it. 5 Foolish Virgins and 5 Wise Ones This parable deals with the situation at the end of time, the time we live today. Although the ten virgins are children of God, only five entered the Kingdom of Heaven, therefore we need to study this parable more seriously while looking at which type of virgin we are today. God’s Promise to Provide The Bible recorded many examples of God provided for His people. God also promise to provide for His children at present time as can be found among others in Matthew 6:25-34. Lord Jesus explained that God requires us to seek first his kingdom and his righteousness. The above requirements are explained in a simple but complete and in-depth manner in this book. Heaviest Temptations We may assume that the temptation Job experienced was very heavy even the toughest one. Actually, the heaviest temptation is the unseen one that had happened to Adam and Eve and had made them fall while the Lord Jesus successfully dealt with it. In the context of the end times, similar temptations Jesus experienced could afflict us and perhaps are afflicting us today. A People Prepared for the Lord Deuteronomy 6:6-9 clearly says that God commanded the Israelites to teach their children spirituality so that they become His people. God really wants our entire family to become God's children, that's why Moses’ negligence in educating and preparing his children had a fatal impact against Moses, he was almost killed by the Lord. To Do the Will of the Father The will of the Father is stated among others in John 6:40, “And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.” Are there people who have accepted the Lord Jesus, yet will not enter into heaven? Yes, there are, as described in the parable of The Sower which depicts four types of Christians where only one type will survive. Loving God The Lord Jesus explains in John 14:21 “Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.” Since such a great reward would be received by those who love God, therefore, in Mark 12:30 the Lord Jesus said, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength." Give Glory unto the Lord The Book of Psalms 96:8-9 describes how we should give glory unto the name of the Lord: •To bring an offering and come into His courts. • To worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. • To fear before Him.

In this revision of a foundational work, John Piper reveals how grace is not only God’s undeserved gift to us in the past, but also God’s power to make good happen for us today, tomorrow, and forever. True life for the follower of Jesus really is a moment-by-moment trust that God is dependable and fulfills his promises. This is living by faith in future grace, which provides God's mercy, provision, and wisdom—everything we need—to accomplish his good plans for us. In Future Grace, chapter by chapter—one for each day of the month—Piper reveals how cherishing the promises of God helps break the power of persistent sin issues like anxiety, despondency, greed, lust, bitterness, impatience, pride, misplaced shame, and more. Ultimate joy, peace, and hope in life and death are found in a confident, continual awareness of the reality of future grace.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Renowned biblical scholar Thomas Schreiner looks at the historical and biblical roots of the doctrine of justification and offers an updated defense of this pillar of Reformed theology. Reinvigorating one of the five great declarations of the Reformation—sola fide—Schreiner: Summarizes the history of the doctrine, looking at the early church and the writings of several of the Reformers. Walks readers through an examination of the key biblical texts in the Old and New Testament that support the Reformed understanding of justification. Discusses whether justification is transformative or forensic and introduces readers to some of the contemporary challenges to the Reformation teaching of sola fide, with particular attention to the new perspective on Paul. Five hundred years after the Reformation, the doctrine of justification by faith alone still needs to be understood and proclaimed. In Faith Alone you will learn how the rallying cry of “sola fide” is rooted in the Scriptures and how to understand this doctrine in a fresh way. —THE FIVE SOLAS— Historians and theologians have long recognized that at the heart of the sixteenth-century Protestant Reformation were five declarations, often referred to as the "solas." These five statements summarize much of what the Reformation was about, and they distinguish Protestantism from other expressions of the Christian faith: that they place ultimate and final authority in the Scriptures, acknowledge the work of Christ alone as sufficient for redemption, recognize that salvation is by grace alone through faith alone, and seek to do all things for God’s glory. The Five Solas Series is more than a simple rehashing of these statements, but instead expounds upon the biblical reasoning behind them, leading to a more profound theological vision of our lives and callings as Christians and churches.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Defenders of the faith have been raised up in every era of the Church to proclaim fidelity to the truth by their words and deeds. Some have fought heresy and overcome confusion like Athanasius against the Arians and Ignatius Loyola in response to the Protestant reformers. Others have shed their blood for the faith, like the early Christian martyrs of Rome, or Thomas More, John Fisher and Edmund Campion in Reformation England. Still others have endured a "dry" martyrdom like St. Philip Howard, Cardinal Joseph Mindszenty and Jesuit Walter Ciszek. Intellectuals have been no less conspicuous in their zealous defense of the faith, like Bonaventure, Albert, Thomas Aquinas, or Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger. The stories of all these, and more, are told here in this book. "he holiness, heroism, and perseverance of the men and woman described by Fr. O'Connor will inspire and instruct readers defending the Catholic Faith in every sort of situation. Each chapter is a well-crafted portrait filled with historical detail, theological insight, and lessons about living and spreading the Gospel in trying times. A seamless combination of history, biography, apologetics, and evangelization."br /> Carl OlsonAuthor, Will Catholics Be "Left Behind"? Fr. Book excerpt: The Bible teaches that the church is called to a balanced ministry of both preaching the gospel in words and showing it with deeds. Yet the church has often found it difficult to find and maintain this balance. Today some are emphasizing deeds at the expense of words, while others hold fast to "talking" and forsake the doing. This is an imbalance that must be righted. Standing at the helm of a leading Christian college, Duane Litfin has had a first-hand look at the issues students and alumni are talking about. Many Christians are excited to debate the importance of social justice and evangelism now more than ever before. Seeking to level the balance, Litfin steers the conversation toward the biblical harmony of word and deed, pointing out the church's tendency to overcorrect—either cutting out the preaching of the gospel or forgetting the application of action. An elder statesmen in the church, Litfin's training in communication theory and in detailed exegesis is brought to bear on this important subject, bringing verbal proclamation in sync with the witness of one's actions.

For five-year-old Greg, it was the memory of his ma walking back to the house after confronting his stepdad with a splintered, bloodied baseball bat in her hand. Greg Stier was raised in a family of bodybuilding, tobacco-chewing, fist-fighting thugs. He never knew his biological father because his mom had met his dad at a party; she got pregnant, and he left town. Though his mom almost aborted him, in a last-minute twist, Greg’s life was spared for so much more. Unlikely Fighter is the incredible story of how God showed up in Greg’s life—and how he can show up in yours as well. This is a memoir of violence and mayhem—and how God can transform everything.
