Nachiketa resolutely sticks to his stance and politely refuses to change his demand. Thus began the most profound dialogue about life between the God of death and an innocent boy. Pure innocence questions the highest wisdom. The entire discussion is encapsulated in the most profound of the Upanishads, Kathopnishad. The dialogue has a timeless charm and is embedded with jewels of guidance on life. These pearls are beautifully uncovered from the rigor of Sanskrit and presented in a beautifully flowing narrative by the author.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "To Death, I give you away!" These words, uttered by Nachiketa's father in a fit of anger, initiate the adventurous journey of twelve-year-old Nachiketa to the celestial realm of Lord Yama, the god of Death. Using this storyline of the Katha Upanishad, and a creatively imagined dialogue between the student Nachiketa and his guru Yama, the author presents the essence of the Upanishadic wisdom in a lucid, easy-to-understand manner. The dialogue helps Nachiketa (and us) discover answers to his profound questions: What is the real aim of our life? What happens after death? What is Self-realisation? How does one get liberated? 'Very inspiring. I find it very useful. The immediate impact of the book on me is that I have become calmer, while continuing to be active, professionally and otherwise. I intend to read this book again and again.' - V S Raju, former Director, IIT Delhi 'Having attended the courses of Prof. Devdas Menon on Self-Awareness and Integral Karmayoga at IIT Madras, I clearly hear his voice, blended with his deep understanding, flowing through this book, thankfully free of difficult Sanskrit terms. I feel grateful to be introduced to the process of awakening!' - Christian Thaulow, Professor (retd), NTNU, Norway 'It is not easy to translate the wisdom teachings of the Upanishads in simple language. The author attempts to do this and comes out with flying colours. The dialogue adopted is fascinating and keeps the reader hooked till the last page.' - Subir Chakraborty, MD & CEO, Exide Industries Ltd

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nachiketa was the son of Vajashravas, a poor but very ambitious Brahmin. Wanting to be famous as a daani, Vajashravas performed a great yajna in which he planned to give away many cows in daana. Unfortunately, all the cows were completely useless and emaciated. Noticing that anything given in daana must be of use to the receiver, Nachiketa was upset and asked his father to whom he planned to give his son away in daana. In anger, the father said that he would gift him to Yama. Taking his father’s words as gospel, Nachiketa left for Yama’s abode immediately, something that was unheard of. The father repented his anger and felt helpless. Finding that Lord Yama wasn’t there, he waited for him outside for three days without eating or drinking water. After Yama returned, he and his wife felt guilty for a brahmachari guest had been left unattended. In lieu of it, Yama asked the boy to ask for three boons. Nachiketa asked him to ensure that his father would not worry about him and would welcome him when he returned home. Next, Yama taught him Agnividya , which was the second boon. As the third boon, Nachiketa wanted to know about the Ultimate Truth – whether man exists after death. Yama was dumbfounded because this was a secret even the Devas were not aware of. How could a young boy be let into it? Yama tried to attract him with other gifts but the boy was very firm. Finally, Yama explained to him what Atma Vidya meant and was pleased to give him jnana deeksha. Nachiketa acquired Brahmavidya from the Lord of Death and then returned to his father who became his son’s disciple. This is the story of Nachiketa as it appears in the Kathopanishad. Book excerpt: 'In a book of such varied contents, it is certain that eveyone will find something which will challenge and inform - and indeed, on occasion, inspire.' - John Bowker, Church Times Throughout history human beings have been preoccupied with personal survival after death. As a consequence, most world religions proclaim that life continues beyond the grave, and they have depicted the Hereafter in a variety of forms. These various conceptions constitute answers to the most perplexing spiritual questions: Will we remember our former lives in the Hereafter? Will we have bodies? Can bodiless souls recognize each other? Will we continue to have personal identity? Will we be punished or rewarded, or absorbed into the Godhead? These issues serve as the basis of this collection of essays which provide a framework for understanding traditional conceptions of the Hereafter as well as new perspectives.

But our current approaches to leadership treat business as entirely separate—and the result has been recurring economic, environmental, and human crises. In this extraordinary book, Ram Nidumolu uses evocative parables and stories from the ancient Indian wisdom texts, the Upanishads, to introduce Being-centered leadership. This new kind of leadership is anchored in the concept of Being, the fundamental reality that underlies all phenomena. Being-centered leaders are guided by an innate sense of interconnection—the good of the whole becomes an integral part of their decisions and actions. Using the experiences of over twenty trailblazing CEOs, as well as those from his own life, Nidumolu describes a four-stage road map every aspiring leader can use to reconnect business to the wider world—to the benefit of all.
