The murals reflect raw emotions and provide a reflection of society. While murals use to be dismissed as not real artwork this is no longer the case. The city of Washington DC has embraced murals and even has created a website with maps and information on the artist. The murals are a "visual documentation of Washington, DC's rich history."The murals are found all over the city and help beautify the city. While most of the artists are local many of the murals are created by international artists as well.
