Download or read book Reflections written by Sachiko Tamai and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2019-05-01 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, Tokyo served as a host city for a vital community of Australian artists, many of whom worked in the Australia Council’s Artist-in-Residence Studio, which opened in 1987. Upon that studio’s closure in 2016, Sachiko Tamai and Emiko Namikawa, who had served as managers and consultants at the time, realized it held an important history that should be preserved. Reflections: Australian Artists Living in Tokyo presents a series of essays by artists, curators, and organisers involved in international art exchanges between Australia and Japan. It documents the history of more than three decades and includes contributions by contemporary Australian artists who lived in Japan between the 1980s and the opening of the twenty-first century, such as Stelarc, Caroline Turner, Emiko Namikawa, Noelene Lucas, Anna Waldmann, and many others. This timely and culturally relevant collection documents those artistic exchanges between Australia and Japan through the voices of those involved, including artists and curators.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “… a diverse and stimulating group of essays that together represents a significant contribution to thinking about the nascent field of contemporary Asian art studies … Contemporary Asian Art and Exhibitions: Connectivities and World-making … brings together essays by significant academics, curators and artist working in Australia, Asia and the United Kingdom that reflect on contemporary art in the Asia-Pacific region, and Australia’s cultural interconnections with Asia. It will be a welcome addition to the body of literature related to these emergent areas of art historical study. ” — Dr Claire Roberts, Senior Lecturer in Art History, University of Adelaide This volume draws together essays by leading art experts observing the dramatic developments in Asian art and exhibitions in the last two decades. The authors explore new regional and global connections and new ways of understanding contemporary Asian art in the twenty-first century. The essays coalesce around four key themes: world-making; intra-Asian regional connections; art’s affective capacity in cross-cultural engagement; and Australia’s cultural connections with Asia. In exploring these themes, the essays adopt a diversity of approaches and encompass art history, art theory, visual culture and museum studies, as well as curatorial and artistic practice. With introductory and concluding essays by editors Michelle Antoinette and Caroline Turner this volume features contributions from key writers on the region and on contemporary art: Patrick D Flores, John Clark, Chaitanya Sambrani, Pat Hoffie, Charles Merewether, Marsha Meskimmon, Francis Maravillas, Oscar Ho, Alison Carroll and Jacqueline Lo. Richly illustrated with artworks by leading contemporary Asian artists, Contemporary Asian Art and Exhibitions: Connectivities and World-making will be essential reading for those interested in recent developments in contemporary Asian art, including students and scholars of art history, Asian studies, museum studies, visual and cultural studies.

Book Synopsis Information Technology in Educational Management by : Ben-Zion Barta
Download or read book Information Technology in Educational Management written by Ben-Zion Barta and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 253 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Educational institutions in which administrators, managers and teachers will be working in the late 1990's will be far different from those oftoday. Schools, which until recently were lagging behind in the implementation of information technology (IT) in their administration and management, are now attempting to close the gap. A massive and rapid computerization process in schools, school districts and throughout the other Ievels of the educational system, including universities, has made computers an integral part of the educational management scene. A computer on the desk of every educational management statT might become a reality in the near future. The term "IT" includes three main components: hardware, software - mainly management information systems (MIS)/decision support systems (DSS) and human factors. Presently, successful implementation depends on adequate software and on human factors. MIS/DSSs are being implemented with the aim of providing meaningful support for school employees in their daily activities, and to improve their performance, etfectiveness and efficiency. Much like at universities, usable and accessible school databases are being established, encompassing data on students, teachers, employees, classrooms, grade Ievels, courses, student achievements and behavior, school space, curriculum, finance, inventory, transportation, etc.

Book Synopsis Rosalie Gascoigne by : Martin Gascoigne
Download or read book Rosalie Gascoigne written by Martin Gascoigne and published by ANU Press. This book was released on 2019-09-16 with total page 445 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rosalie Gascoigne (1917–1999) was a highly regarded Australian artist whose assemblages of found materials embraced landscape, still life, minimalism, arte povera and installations. She was 57 when she had her first exhibition. Behind this late coming-out lay a long and unusual preparation in looking at nature for its aesthetic qualities, collecting found objects, making flower arrangements and practising ikebana. Her art found an appreciative audience from the start. She was a people person, and it pleased her that through her exhibiting career of 25 years, her works were acquired by people of all ages, interests and backgrounds, as well as by the major public institutions on both sides of the Tasman Sea.
