Unter kulturellen Konstanten werden bestimmte dauerhafte Konzepte, Vorstellungen, Anschauungen und Wertungen verstanden, die für diverse soziale und lebensweltliche Kernbereiche übergreifend relevant sind. Auf diese Weise gelangt die aktuelle Beobachtung über die Oberfläche hinaus zu einer historisch und theoretisch vermittelten Analyse kultureller Grundstrukturen, die die Gegenwart gewissermaßen mit der longue dureé verbindet.
