Book excerpt: The Drakh have assaulted Earth with deadly Shadow technology -- but the worst is yet to come in this stunning continuation of the Babylon 5 epic adventure... Centauri Prime has been infiltrated by malevolent allies of the Shadows, creatures known as the Drakh. While Centauri citizens continue to rebuild their war-torn planet, their secret masters work feverishly toward one ultimate goal: to crush the Interstellar Alliance once and for all. As the Drakh carry out their horrific plans, Emperor Londo Mollari languishes on his throne, a puppet of the Drakh-bred keeper, an insidious creature that monitors his every thought, word, and action. While the emperor broods, the power-obsessed Lord Durla -- an unwitting Drakh pawn -- follows his own agenda. But Drakh control is not absolute. Vir Cotto -- a most unlikely hero -- has begun a resistance movement, and Alliance President John Sheridan has sent his most trusted troubleshooter, Michael Garibaldi, to investigate. Yet this move may prove costly, and though the Centauri continue to build a new military machine, the Alliance avoids any overt confrontation, hoping the problem will go away. They're about to discover how wrong they are...

Book excerpt: Jewishness in Russian Culture is devoted to new approaches and methods for the study of Jewish acculturation in Russian literature and its effects. It attempts to redefine criteria and borders of a discipline situated roughly between Judaica Rossica and Rossica Judaica. The monograph describes a series of important literary Russian-Jewish cultural events and figures belonging synchronically or diachronically to both disciplines. Thus it unites within a new conceptual framework the data accumulated by scholars and disciplines that exist separately in different research spaces that do not overlap, Jewish Studies and the history of Russian culture. The emerging picture shows the development of a historical plot along the axis of acculturation and anti-Semitism, accepting and/or trying to be accepted, being rejected and/or rejecting, and being within or without.

Many are unhappy with this decision--none more so than Galen, the only mage who has faced the Shadows and lived. Now a new mission awaits as the Circle contrives a plan that may enable the five hundred mages to escape without leaving a trace. Book excerpt: David Paul follows in the tradition of spiritual thrillers pioneered by Charles Williams (War in Heaven) and Frank Peretti (This Present Darkness), and blends the realm of angels and demons with 21st century bio-warfare. The action is compelling and the stakes go beyond the world: souls hang in a delicate balance between heaven and hell. It takes great discipline on the part of the reader to set this book down at night and go to bed. As observed by Professor Emeritus Francis C. Rossow of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis MO, “If you like the novels of Stephen King, Frank Peretti, J.R.R.Tolkien, and C.S. Lewis then Plague of Terror is the book for you." "If you like the novels of Stephen King, Frank Peretti, J.R.R. Tolkien, and C.S. Lewis then Plague of Terror is the book for you." Francis C. Rossow, Professor Emeritus, Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri. "Plague of Terror is one of those books that grabs you." Michael J. Chapman, author and national lecturer on public education and revisionist history.
