In poems steeped deep in the 21st century, Pierce weaves superblooms and Legos, gun violence and ghosts, glaciers and contaminant masks, urging us to look closely at both the horror and beauty of our world. As Pierce writes in "Planet," "I'm trying to see this place even as I'm walking through it."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rejecting cries of gloom and doom, Hope for a Heated Planet shows how the fight against global warming can be won by the grassroots efforts of individuals. Robert K. Musil, who led the Nobel Peace Prize-winning organization Physicians for Social Responsibility, explains that a growing new climate movement can produce unprecedented change-in the economy, public health, and home-while saving the planet. Musil draws on personal experience and compelling data in this practical and rigorous analysis of the causes and cures for global warming. The book presents all the players in the most pressing challenge facing society today, from the massive fossil fuel lobby to the enlightened corporations that are joining the movement to "go green." Musil thoroughly explains the tremendous potential of renewable energy sources-wind, solar, and biofuel-and the startling conclusions of experts who say society can do away entirely with fossil fuels. He tells readers about the engaged politicians, activists, religious groups, and students who are already working together against climate change. But the future depends, Musil insists, on what changes ordinary citizens make. Through personal choices and political engagement, he shows how readers can cut carbon emissions and create green communities where they live. With practical and realistic solutions, Hope for a Heated Planet inspires readers to be accountable and enables them to usher in an age of sustainability for future generations.

This book was released on 2021-01-01 with total page 403 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The important classic on Muhortha, the electional astrology. The book gives a comprehensive introduction to the calculation of muhoortha for various electional muhurthas. A copy of the ephemeris and the kalaprakasika is the only thing an astrologer would need to give the best muhoorthas for every known function and astrological ritual. The author reveals that the value and practice of the science of Astrology were well understood in India by the ancient Aryans at a period of hoary antiquity. The question of the time at which the science arose is, probably, one in regard to which it is extremely difficult to arrive at a confident conclusion. It is, however, a well-known fact that in the earliest literature of the ancient Hindus, Astrology holds a prominent place. It was the first sketch of science of the ancient Brahmanas to whom a knowledge of astronomical positions was indispensable in order to determine the proper time for commencing and ending their sacrifices, '‘principally, the so-called Sutras or sacrificial sessions' which could not be known without an accurate knowledge of the time of the Sun’s northern or southern progress. This book is a Hindu astrology work, and acts as a guide to deciding the appropriate time and occasion for the carrying out the various acts of everyday life. For example the commencement of education, marriage, harvest, foundation of a house, coronation, thread ceremony, journeys etc. The book contains few illustrations to delineate the subject properly. This book is a reprint of the 1917 edition. About the Author:-N.P. Subramania Iyer was an Indian-born author from South India. He was a noted translator and editor also. He has five works in 11 publications in two languages and 41 library holdings to his credit. He is mostly remembered for his outstanding works in Indian history and literature. He is the author of Kalaprakasika: the standard book on the Election (Mahoortha) system; with original text in Devanagari and English translation to which are added an introduction to the study of astrology, explanatory notes, appendix, illustrations which is proved to be a classic one. His other book is Methods of philosophical research: a paper read before the Bangalore Cantonment Branch of the Theosophical Society.

These elements are important to the mysterious events that occur there. With the motivating help of awesome images and photos, readers will critically evaluate the evidence and decide whether they’d dare venture into these “danger zones.”

Book excerpt: EVER WONDERED… Why we are so different from each other even though we share the same planet? Over the centuries, our solar system has been the subject of constant research, endless directions, dimensions, ideas and theories have been formulated on this subject. But every story takes us from one horizon to another, and a new endless story starts from there. This book is a work of science fiction and the ultimate exploration of the origin of human and other forms of life on the planet Earth, which is based upon the author’s intuition. According to the author, she does not have any scientific evidence to prove her story that states migration took place to the Planet Earth, but it may lead someone someday to give validity to this amazing history that has never been thought of or explored. The distinctive feature of this book is that it does not relate to any culture, religion, spirituality, astronomy, astrology or romance. Rather it is a marvellous journey backwards in time to unveil the mystery of the lives of other planets.

Book excerpt: The year is 2112 and scientists are predicting that in twenty years or so an ice age will develop, that will, in all probability, be an extinction level event (ELE). Six scientists from various scientific fields come together and are able to build a spaceship that is capable of traveling faster than the speed of light. They discover that this will allow them to travel back in time. Traveling essentially the speed of light allows them to travel forward in time. Using time travel, they go back to 2012 to try to convince people to change their ways and prevent this ELE from happening. Unfortunately, the people in that time period don’t believe them and the ice age is definitely coming. The six explorers search for an earth-like planet to which they can bring a number of people. They find a suitable planet more than two million light-years from earth. Is there time to find the appropriate individuals and transport them to this new planet before ice age engulfs the entire Earth?
