Stolen and imprisoned aboard an alien ship, Serena, a human woman with a hidden celestial power and villainous past, finds herself moments away from death, but as fate would have it, another discovers and claims her life, and soon, her heart too. The voyage back to the world of Mel’Vargon will be a long one, but until they arrive, Zurhen, the new Emperor and giant, lonely king, takes it upon himself to care for his little one, vowing to do whatever he can, to nurture her back to health and see to all… of her aching needs. As they soar across the stars, and Serena adapts to her advancing power, and new surroundings, a puzzling yet undeniable, cosmic force between the two works at drawing them close. With dangerous elements at play, arising tensions aboard their ship, and an already fragile and magic-less world on the verge of an uprise, a dark, peculiar presence lurks amongst the shadows, one that follows and clings to Serena and her inner light, determined more than ever, to draw it and her into his familiar, yet ominous orbit. Hero, villain… true love knows no bounds nor judgement. A war is brewing. One that in the end, will force all, to choose a side. ****************** ***Content Warning: This book is intended for mature, adult audiences only. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The mystery of the body in motion. The surprise of seeing what seems impossible. And the pure, joyful optimism of it all. Dancers Among Us presents one thrilling photograph after another of dancers leaping, spinning, lifting, kicking—but in the midst of daily life: on the beach, at a construction site, in a library, a restaurant, a park. With each image the reader feels buoyed up, eager to see the next bit of magic. Photographer Jordan Matter started his Dancers Among Us Project by asking a member of the Paul Taylor Dance Company to dance for him in a place where dance is unexpected. So, dressed in a commuter’s suit and tie, the dancer flew across a Times Square subway platform. And in that image Matter found what he’d been searching for: a way to express the feeling of being fully alive in the moment, unself-conscious, present. Organized around themes of work, play, love, exploration, dreaming, and more, Dancers Among Us celebrates life in a way that’s fresh, surprising, original, universal. There’s no photoshopping here, no trampolines, no gimmicks, no tricks. Just a photographer, his vision, and the serendipity of what happens when the shutter clicks.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Timothy Cook has been lauded as a leading contemporary Australian artist: critically acclaimed, honored with the prestigious 2012 29th Telstra National Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander Art Award, included in major exhibitions throughout Australia, and well represented in significant public and corporate collections. He has lived and worked for his entire life in a small settlement in the Tiwi Islands, in remote Indigenous Australia, deeply attached to his place. Cook is also a maverick artist: non-conformist, individualistic, original and inventive, straddling the modern and ancient with confidence. In this stunning monograph, author Seva Frangos attests to Timothy Cook's achievements, inhabiting a place and space where innovation might seem impossible against the background of tradition and ritual; where he realigns artistic and cultural boundaries and re-explores being Tiwi. These pages capture the remarkable levels of energy and emotional charge in his painting, and provide a brilliant introduction to Cook's vast body of work created over two decades in a range of media. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dancer-choreographer-directors Fred Astaire, George Balanchine and Gene Kelly and their colleagues helped to develop a distinctively modern American film-dance style and recurring dance genres for the songs and stories of the American musical. Freely crossing stylistic and class boundaries, their dances were rooted in the diverse dance and music cultures of European immigrants and African-American migrants who mingled in jazz age America. The new technology of sound cinema let them choreograph and fuse camera movement, light, and color with dance and music. Preserved intact for the largest audiences in dance history, their works continue to influence dance and film around the world. This book centers them and their colleagues within the history of dance (where their work has been marginalized) as well as film tracing their development from Broadway to Hollywood (1924-58) and contextualizing them within the American history and culture of their era. This modern style, like the nation in which it developed, was pluralist and populist. It drew from aspects of the old world and new, "high" and "low", theatrical and social dance forms, creating new sites for dance from the living room to the street. A definitive ingredient was the freer more informal movement and behavior of their jazz-age generation, which fit with song lyrics that poeticized slangy American English. The Gershwins, Rodgers and Hart, and others wrote not only songs but extended dance-driven scores tailored to their choreography, giving a new prominence to the choreographer and dancer-actor. This book discuss how these choreographers collaborated with directors like Vincente Minnelli and Stanley Donen and cinematographers like Gregg Toland, musicians, dancers, designers and technicians to synergize music and moving image in new ways. Eventually, concepts and visual-musical devices derived from dance-making would give entire films the rhythmic flow and feeling of dance. Dancing Americans came to be seen around the world as archetypal embodiments of the free-spirited optimism and energy of America itself.
