Successivamente si esaminano, dal punto di vista medico, i vari episodi della passione di Cristo, e si cerca di definire scientificamente le conseguenze delle sevizie che Gesù ha dovuto sopportare e le cause della sua morte. Non vi è artista di un certo rilievo che non abbia riprodotto, nelle sue opere, almeno un episodio della passione di Cristo; la crocifissione di Gesù è, senza dubbio il soggetto più realizzato dagli artisti di tutti i tempi, tanto che molti di loro l'hanno rappresentato più volte. A questa vastissima messe di opere, alla storia dell'arte sacra, alla relazione strettissima fra Arte, Politica e Religione nel corso dei secoli, è dedicata la terza parte dell'opera che si sviluppa attraverso la presentazione di una vasta iconografia relativa ad opere sulla passione e la morte di Gesù, realizzate da artisti di tutti i tempi.
